I have a couple of old cues that have what appears to be a linen material ferrules. Have you guys seen this before and if so where?

Hard to tell without having it in my hands, but it looks a lot like old Ivorine 3.

Nice material, but can be hard to keep clean. Tommy D.

Thanks, seems like a lot of modern cues use ivorine but the cue with this ferrule is almost 80 years old but I believe the shaft to be more like 1960s. It's kind of an odd shaft being as it is piloted 3/8-10 with no brass insert for the pin and a very shallow pilot collar. When did this stuff come out and who was using it?

The ferrule has been replaced if the cue is that old. The linen melamine started being used in the 80s.

Is it linen melamine or aegis? From what I understand, melamine is very white and aegis is more yellowed.

There have been various batches of linen melamine sold under different brand names through the years that are more off white or yellowish like Ivorine 3 and others.
