Bullseye Billiards: shot 40 help?

I was working on shot 40 tonight and am having trouble positioning the ball. The shot calls for fast speed, top hit for the intended position.

The trouble is I could only duplicate the position illustrated with medium to fast low hit. I'm confused (which is not unusual). Suggestions?

Can you draw a diagram?

The shots will vary slightly depending on your equipment. You might have fast cushions or newer cloth where you don't have to use as much speed. Try moving the object ball so it is a slightly thicker hit and see if you can get close to the diagrammed shot.

I have attached the shot using a screenshot from the Bullseye Billiards app that we are beta testing.

Doesn't look all that tough. Actually makes sense coming off the rail although it isn't necessary to get shape. I can't see how you can get shape using low though.

It's not tough, it just isn't reacting the way it is diagrammed, for me. You can't see how low would pull the ball to the side that the cue ball came from?

I'll try the fuller hit, thanks.

When I hit it as diagrammed I am consistently getting the ball to a mirrored position of the diagram. Only when I used a little low did it follow the intended cue ball path.

If I were hitting the shot I don't know if I would use straight follow, maybe some high right.

Looks like a cool app.

Half a tip high at what i would call my 6 speed had me on the head spot (2 diamonds off the short rail middle of the table). so my angle was short of target.

Center cue ball at a 6 speed left me at the head string had me on the long rail. (angle was 1 diamond too long).

Center cue ball at 6 speed aiming for the right side of the pocket had me finding the target pretty good.

When i do 1 and a half tips high i go straight up and down the table and land in the mirror position you were talking about.

Hope that helps

I appreciate that Joules. Very confusing. Makes me at a minimum doubt my ability (limited as that is) and perhaps even my sanity.

It was a testy shot. Even when doing 1/4 tip high i was short of the target angle and center ball i was long. There should have been a middle there but i wasn't finding it. I had to cheat the pocket a little to get the consistency and still stay on the vertical center of the cue ball.

I took 30 or 40 shots at it before i felt pretty good about it.

Tough to cheat 41/8 pockets

I know the app is a beta but there were no lines saying what path the CB is to take in order to get to the target. Pocket I don't know what your ability is but timing could be an issue or contact point with the cue and the ball. If you're not using a measles ball try a strip and see what the ball is doing, it's possible you're not hitting center and possible not high enough. (i didn't notice if you mentioned where you were getting when you did what you felt was center high)

(yes you did) I'm going to say you're not hitting center and high enough so you're not getting the necessary CB action. There are a lot of flaws that show when hitting a ball hard. try pausing for a full 1.5 secs to make sure you're not jerking the stick instead of stroking it and see what happens.

The cue ball path is indicated by the gray area. I diagrammed the shots using the full width of the cue ball to show the exact path.
