Bullseye Billiards: shot 40 help?

Just watched your video. You are using EXTREME right. I will try it tonight. You'll have to take my word for how it turns out as I do not have the video set up that you have. Thanks

have a friend use a phone and record your shot, if possible.

Here is high right. I just tried it. Not even close:) It does work for a 2 rail path... but that is not the object of this shot...

Would you be able or willing to try this. instead of draw have the CB sliding at the time of contact. To be honest I think this is what is happening when you say you got the shot to work, you actually ran out of draw and had a "stun" of the OB. Move the CB closer to the OB at first to make sure you can get the stun effect. I would love to see the results. If not no biggie, i'll give it a try over the weekend.

As I tried the shot last night a fellow player was watching me set it up and I explained what I was doing. I told him a guy used draw and I couldn't imagine that. He said the draw was probably more of a stun shot. Anyhow it seemed like a lot of work when high with a little right is much more natural. I did pull it off even though it was not quite the exact set up as the diagram. My set up was, I believe a little more difficult. I will try the set up again next time. I have it diagramed now.

The shots are night and day apart though. I will try your OB and CB placement, and record it. You also try the original placement, and let us know where on the CB you have to hit. Please though, put the OB and CB in the "exact" positions. It really does make a difference in the shot if they are just an inch or two different.

Now, remember, the original shot that started this whole thread was center high. Several of the posters now reported that that does not work at all. I'd love to see someone perform this shot with center high.

Also regarding the "draw" I hit the CB below center, maybe half to 1 tip. It was probably just about sliding when it reached the OB, as that makes sense from the angle the CB took off of the OB and into the rail. So when you shoot the shot, see if you can pay attention to the tip position and report back. Again, to get the affect that the original diagram has.

Thank everyone for both starting the thread, and trying the shots:)

It will be an interesting exercise. It has been already. I will tell you that I am a feel player and half tip/full tip means nothing to me but I will try to be as accurate as possible. I will also get someone to film me. Just from looking at the diagram, I can't see just follow working. What good is getting shape in an exercise if it is not repeatable.

I just tried both shots in the thread again. The original ball positions, and the new position from Philly. I used a Rempe training ball, and had the camera show the chalk mark (of only the successful attempts). Each of the videos is just about 30 sec for easy viewing and attention span keeping:) :)

Original shot working with a below center hit (no side spin):

Philly's shot not working with a tiny bit of high right:

It seems to me that the shot, as diagrammed is a mistake. All the move the object ball here, move the cue ball there, go three rails etc is interesting but the point is to accomplish the shot as diagrammed.

Will try to make it to the poolroom tonight and try the shot as diagramed. I'll let you know. I am still thinking high with a touch of right but I'll let you know and see if someone can film it.

Even with your below center hit, the cue ball is turning over into a follow shot. In your original attempts, it looks like the cue ball is retaining a lot of topspin coming off the rail, and that was causing the cue ball to bend more than it should.

Jeremiah, according to the book, the shot is supposed to have (a lot of) topspin. Speed: Fast, Hit: Center top.
