Mike's is 778 -- world 44

The 39-point spread predicts Shane as the favorite with an over/under for Mike of 16

Where's the cold beer?
I put it in the Fargorator. :) lol

Just messing with ya ....good stuff Mike, these ratings are definitely a game changer.
Props to you and Mark and Mike ...and whomever else that has been involved in seeing it thru on the big scale.

Very cool. We'll see how this plays out.

I would of thought the o/u for Mike would be 18 on a bb

what would the Mosconi Cup teams look like if we used Fargo ratings?

Well here is the current US top 10. A number of these (and the next several) are close enough that we can expect to see some shakeups this week with the US Open 10-Ball, the US Open 8-Ball, the challenge matches, and of course all the other CSI-event matches going in.

It's surprising to me that Johnny, Rodney, Hatch, and Earl are up so high. Have they been hanging with people like Dechaine and SVB in recent years?

Does the system weight based on how much time has passed since the games were played?

Yes, it does. There is an exponential decay of the value of a game toward a player's rating such that a three-year old game is worth half of one today and a six-year-old game is worth a quarter.

after watching that challenge match a couple weeks ago, rodney didn't look top 3 in the country. not doubting any ratings. just saying.

Great. That's the interesting thing about seeing empirically-derived numbers like this: you get to see how off your intuitions are. And most of us will think our intuitions are correct and the rating numbers are incorrect.

What factor puts McMinn up there so high?

What are the factors considered?

For each game you play, FargoRate considers WHO you played and Whether you won the game.

McMinn is an example of someone people consider a (sic) bar-box player. But two weeks ago on 9-foot tables at the Memphis Open,

McMinn beat John Morra 11-5
McMinn beat Larry Nevel 11-7
McMinn beat Jason Klatt 15-7
McMinn beat Josh Roberts 11-6
McMinn beat Johnny Archer 11-10

and when he DID lose, the loses were pretty respectable

McMinn lost 14-15 to Skyler Woodward
McMinn lost 13 - 15 to Justin Bergman

That's a collective record of 85 to 65 against a world-top-100 crowd. Furthermore, FargoRate pays attention to the non-high-profile performance that is harder for us enthusiasts to assess. For example, does a top player tend to beat a shortstop 11-4 rather than 11-5--that sort of thing...

That sounds like an awesome system for rating.

Props to Shane M. I knew he was really good but that is really really good.

My first time reading about this Fargo Rating. Sounds brilliant.

Is there a list of highest worldwide ratings?
