Trouble deciding on B/J Tip

if it was a dedicated breaker i'd definitely say samsara (that's what's on my ob rift), but since you want both, i'd go white diamond all day. i had one on my old jump break and loved it for both. you could control the cue ball on the break plenty, it jumps really easy, and you can still get some english on the ball when jumping as well. all around great tip for a jump break.

Samsara is by far the best break tip with forgiveness. I have removed G10 ferrule/tip combos, G10/white diamond combos, triangles, phenolic tips, and every other combination you can imagine and 100% of the time the customer has been happy with the change to Samsara.

I have had a couple fall off, and the root cause was a soft ferrule, flexing and putting strain on the adhesive. I recommend putting it on a phenolic ferrule with loctite ultra gel and never need to look back. My Samsara lasted 4 years of heavy play before replacing.

Samsara tips do jump well but a phenolic does get up/down faster. Too many players try to combine cues (jump/break). I had a conversation with Steve Lomax when planning on getting a break cue several years ago and he told me that they are different cues for different purposes and for optimal performance should be set up that way. Of course he does makes jump/break cues because of demand.

Seriously, a much more mature group here at AZB than I would have thought.

A guy posts asking for a "B/J Tip" and all he gets is advice for the tip on just break-jump cue?

b/j tip

I would recommend an ODEGA tip. He was with Samsara when the break tips first came out. He has been making tips for 5to6 years, I've installed over 200 Odegas with no problem.
The tip actually holds chalk and you can draw the ball better than any break tip on the market. I know Jacoby uses Odegas on all break and jump cues.
Wade makes tips in my area and plays pool league at Moorhead Billiards if you want one let me know they sell for 15.00. Or you can send your shaft and I can install.
