Safety
Score 2-The area is fairly safe. Bad incidents are very rare (its downtown Mankato a lot of college age kids always into something but they are about a block away from most trouble)
Temperature
Score 2- The temperature or humidity are fluctuating noticably (in the basement it gets very sticky and warm during tourneys)
Noise
Score 3- The atmosphere is relatively quiet and pleasant, with good music at low (ofcourse I like to play with more of an atmosphere, talking, medium loud music, I hate when it's as quiet as this place stays. Zero atmosphere almost a bore)
Food
Score 2- Food is more expensive or only few options (Burgers and soda)
Pro shop
Score 1- No cues only tips and chalk. Maybe repairs but not a good repairman. (off-site tip repairs only)
Equipment
Score 3- Tables level, balls clean, house cues decent, cushions good, pockets good, tables placed with proper distance (all very nice new blue label diamonds)
Staff/service
Score 3- Staff is curteous, knowledgable and keep a good eye on the place
Pricing
Score 2- The prices are fair
Air quality
Score 3- The air is fresh as a meadow
So I guess 21, its a nice place just needs more of an atmosphere and some booze and to keep the temp better regulated, little better food selection. Then I'd move in! :grin:

I play at three places... let's call them A, B and C.
Safety: A and B are urban. There was a shooting 1 block away from B last weekend and A has issues with the usual drunk belligerent bro types. I'll still give them a 2. C is suburban but has a somewhat sketchy parking lot. 2.
Temperature: 3 for all - I find it hard to believe this is a problem for a lot of people, though it apparently is.
Noise: A gets a 0. Horrible Nickelback-esque rock music, chart pop and country playing all day every day. B is loud but has a great jukebox so it gets a 3. C is either dead quiet (3) or obnoxious (0). I'll give it a 1.
Food: Not important to me. I'll give them all 2's.
Pro shop: A and B both have nothing (-1). C has a wall of cues but no apparent repairs (0).
Equipment: A has some busted but level 8-foot GCs (1), B has reasonable 9-foot GCs (2), C has perfect 9-foot Diamonds (3) but the pockets are soooo tight. That's my problem not the tables' though.
Staff: Out of generosity, 3 for all three.
Pricing: A and B are expensive but fair given their locations. C is amazingly cheap. 3 for all three.
Air quality: 3 for all three, though A does have a lot of vapers and the smoking room in C doesn't always do a great job holding in the smoky air.
Added rating: LOCATION: A is one block from my house, B is 1 mile, C is a 35 minute drive. A gets a 3, B gets a 2 and C gets a 1.

The owner runs a tight ship.
It's almost like the bar in Cheers but it's all about pool.

The lighting is not good. -1
The equipment is not maintained. Ask them the last time the tables were wiped down since being redone. All the new cloth and rails are being paid for by the leagues ($1 extra per person per match) . Not that I mind but it is left out of discussions.
Measure the CB versus the other balls. CB's are much smaller in a few of the sets.
Air conditioning doesn't keep up on really hot days especially the side room with 3 tables.
A number of tables are moved for other events which have roll issues at times.
That all being said, the owner seems to support pool by doing or allowing special events for the kids.
Overall it is not a bad place to play and I am sure the owner is under pressure to make a profit to keep it open. Many people I know were going to leave if tables hadn't been re-clothed and the rails fixed.

I would score the 2 I have played at a 22 and a 24.
The 22 is in Milwaukee, I would prefer to play here frequently but its about an hour from home. It is actually my favorite of the 2 because it has almost 50 Gold Crowns (I think) The only thing it scored low on is for too loud of music and a slightly lower than a 3 for safety but the equipment is very nice, you can even rent Schon cues to shoot with.
The 24 is in Oshkosh, its about 30 minutes from home. They have a mix of 7' & 9' Diamonds, maybe 6 9' and 10 7'??? Not sure, I never counted them. The only thing they did not get top score in is the Pro Shop, it could be my mistake but I do not think they have one. Equipment is all very nice and well kept.

Only time I've had issues with lights there is if the sun was in a certain spot by the tables and the shades were not quite closed.
Moving tables is eh, they do cause rolls but I avoid the few that they move. Don't know how they clean the tables but I do know after playing a full night for the tournament, I don't have any dirt on my hands.
Snookers may have better equipment, although some of their tables are way too fast, but I would just as rather head to Billiards Café as to Snookers if not more so due to the people there.
