You left $2k short bud.... 5 races ahead for $10k each is $4k per set
Not quite. 2,000 X 5 = 10,000.
2,000 X 1= 2,000.
Am I missing something here?
Did I take a different math class in school or am I not explaining it in the correct manner?

OK, my last post on this and then I'll let it go.
Certainly, one of the stupider things I've done in my life is to walk into a strange pool at night, with close to $30K on me, after woofing about the match on the interweb for months.
However, both me and me opponent were committed to the "frozen up" part.
Neither one of us wanted any funny business at the end of the match and we wanted to make sure that whoever lost delivered the full pound of flesh. So there was "show up" money deposited in Fargo with a third party and, at the match before the first ball was hit, the remaining part of the bet was counted out and given to a third party whom we both trusted to safeguard the dough and then dispense to the victor in a fair, judicious, and timely manner.
All I'm saying is that there is frozen up money and then there is really froze up money.

Actually your math is off.. If 10 and 10 make 20, and you are playing 5 ahead,,,, wouldn't you have been due $4K for winning the set??
How did you decide to walk away with $2K?

I buried it in snow and marked it with an ice scraper...

Easy when you are stealing isn't it? Barton played a horrific game and that's putting it mildly.

Well duh, bars are dangerous, but it is also highly illegal to carry firearms in bars.
Screw school, you get grammar and math here at AZB. :bash:
Judged by 12 or carried by 6.

Lou, I had Cowboy Bill with me so I knew I would be fine. 5 on 2 aren't good odds and Bill and I played it smart. I didn't mean to come out the gate as strong as I did and I surely didn't think his backer would pull up after the first set.
I guess it's one of those could've, would've, and should've moments. You live and learn especially when I'm not even over 30 yet.
Stupid saying. It is much more likely that one will get harassed by the law while illegally carrying than it is that he will be in a shootout.
If you are carrying illegally it is not harassment. You have an obligation to all gun supporters to obey the law. If you don't, you desreve to be arrested.
It is illegal to carry a gun in a bar in most states. Here in Florida, many people carry, men and women.
If you know the law and concealed carry rules, it is unlikely you will be in a shootout because you will be aware of your liability. It is unlikey you will pull a gun. I have never, my wife legally and with justification has.
So back to Allen's story. $10 k each frozen , winner take all, everyone carrying, one strong arm, and a 75 year old duck with 4 friends, one the backer, in the 75 year old's house. Allen knows the guy, but not the backer.
I must assume the rest of the old geezers pals are sweating their social security checks?
MY RANDOM THOUGHTS. This story sounds fishy at best. 1. When gambling, establish payment methood and terms. Put the stakes some where trust worthy and neutral. Why was this not done? 2. If your guy has a backer, why was point one not established with the backer as he is the only one who counts? 3. Your opponent is on the hook if his backer pulls up and you have not established a buy out, (which I do not support). You opponent knew your speed. Froze is Froze! He has assets. 4. No one wants a fight or shooting, (anywhere anytime), but especially not in their home. You miss evaluated your leverage and the seriousness of the situation. 5. If you failed to set the game right with points 1 and 2, you should have taxed him a buy out or pressed it. 6. Why was it not established who would attend? When gambling in private settings, establish who will be there and why. Sweaters are for pool halls!!!. In underground poker games, if they aren't waiting for a seat and several show not to play and are not familiar, leave. 7. I am 68 and would not play a young guy 10 ball? This part of the story is also questionable and does not make sense. Guys 75 played 9 ball young and 1P now.
Finally, in private gambling settings, if you a gambling for a meaningful amount, it is adviseable to discuss hiring security to guard against the game being taken down. If you are carrying because of who you are gambling with or their associates, get another game.
