★ world 9 ball championship ★ qatar★

There is provision for a 45-second shot clock, but the tournament director has to call for it. And with how they have like two days between matches it's hard to see where it would truly be necessary, except for spectator's sanity.

...or opponent's sanity

That was the last session for today. Here is the rest of the schedule for the tournament. Eliminations for the next 2 days will start at 5 am US EST (3 sessions only per day), then the FINAL 64, single elimination, will start on Wednesday and end on Friday. There will be 4 sessions starting at 4 am US EST:

I just watched Makkonen d. Gulati 9-8. I had not seen Gulati play before. It was a pretty good match with relatively few blunders until the last few games. Gulati had the match in hand at hill/hill after Makkonen missed the 1-ball, but, alas, he bungled the 5-ball.

Makkonen has quite a powerful style.

Oddly, the 9-ball was made twice in a row in this match, and both times it went in the breaker's left-hand pocket at the head of the table.

Hey Mr. Statsman, has there been a dry break yet since the tournament started? That would be rare and the player should be banned.

Yes, a few. SVB actually had two dry breaks. He was hitting it quite easy, and another ball knocked the wing ball out of the way before it got to the pocket.

Not at home and its difficult to follow on my phone.

Can someone give a quick run down of the big names thats out
of the tournament?

Marcus Chamat is the only player I had heard of who has been eliminated due to losing their first two matches.

Quite a few big names are likely to be eliminated tomorrow though.

he is playing a lot again? havent seen his name much except a bit in the last 6 months or so.

He does own his own pool room. So when a guy says he's not playing, it only means he's not competing. But he still plays. Still surprised he's going home after two matches.

Out of tournament-
Marcus Chamat
Stepanov
Francisco Sanchez ( I have never seen this guy play but he has very high Fargo rating :D)
Overall not a good day for Europe

The one loss guys (Darren, Boyes, Liu Haitao) bounced back and turned it on trouncing their opponents
Majority of 12 Qualifiers been doing very well- may be some truth in the hypothesis that qualifiers in main draw will do well as they are ready to go ,well practised.and know the equipment.

:D

There was 5 year period when he had the best record in the WPC if i recall correctly. All top 10 finishes.
