Unlocking tables remotely?

Has anybody seen anything that would remotely unlock a table - Diamond tables in particular? Been trying to find a remote switch that could be set up as a row of on/off, lighted switches, but haven't really had much luck. Figured it couldn't hurt to ask if anybody here knows about something similar. Even a switch that triggers a mechanical switch on the other side that I could figure out how to connect to the table.

Thanks in advance.

most remotes work with a "button" not a toggle switch, so I imagine you need that (as in the remote control trunk unlock feature on my car)

Easy to find remote control electrical circuits, (I control my outside Malibu lights via remote) meaning your remote opens up an electrical circuit on the other side of the room. What I don't have an answer for is what type of "electrical devise" would open the table. (if you find that devise, you can easily control the electrical power to that devise, via remote.....

Hope that is partially helpful

Go to a microelectronics forum and start reading, there is way too much to try an explain here.

You need to know how to make the mechanisms yourself, Diamond does not make what you are looking for.

Call Paul Smith at Diamond.. They just made some changes to the way the tables handle the balls so he is likely up on what you are asking and can tell you where the solenoid, switch or relay would need to be placed... We talked about it a few months ago but I don't recall the details... But they could be wired or wireless I would think with the toggles just needing wires ran under the carpet or floor to the switch bank.....

I own 18 Diamond tables. Currently we are creating a system that will do EXACTLY what you're asking and more.

I will be posting here when it's ready.

No time guarantee at this point....but it's coming.

It's main purpose will be to keep employees honest in rooms with hourly pool rates.....but what you're asking will be possible.

wow. what a great idea! has no one ever thought to design this?
sounds like you've got a new sideline business.
and, WELCOME BACK, Banks!

Some of the table rental software will actually toggle the table lights on when the table is rented and off when the balls are turned in.. Should be a tiny step from that to triggering the ball return AND Light... Was one of the things we talked about.....

Yep, that is helpful. I'll check out an auto supply store. Anything that remotely makes a movement could be useful in making my contraption.

I know that there are some security systems that unlock door locks and dead bolts wireless.

Thanks, I'll check out the nearby Home Depot and see what they may have.

I did some searches and even have an electronics degree, but it's been so long that I'd rather just find something that's premade and just rig it up to do the job.

Diamond's been working on a few things, one of which works with the new switching system. Unfortunately, only a couple of my tables have that.

Yeah, I'd like a timer to be used together with it, but just to get it started would be nice. Since I can't be everywhere all of the time, I have to trust them. Making their job easier is the goal - not having to leave their station when busy would be a big help and would also tell them when a table's been left unlocked.

I'll let you know what I come up with.

I'm sure somebody else has, they just haven't been on here to talk about it. Well, except Teacherman above. Would also like to get this done so that I don't have tons of retrofits to do later on.

Thank you, Pinky.

Since these are really just bars, I'd rather figure out something sensible without they or I having to invest in software for just a few tables.
