I have 2 Predator 314-2 shafts and the ferrule has cracked on both of them. I sent in the one a while back and now have to send in the other. Is this common? I don't use it this one to break with either. Just checking to see if anyone else has had this issue?

I have owned 6 of them and a vantage and no issues with any.

Did you buy them both from the same place at the same time? If so, maybe a bad batch of ferrule material

I had one with a small crack near the tip. It didn't effect play but it was a still a crack. Did they fix it for you? Did they cover it under warranty?

Maybe that's why they came out with the third version?

I bought both of them from our local store (Safari Billiards) in Dickinson, North Dakota. I bought the first one about 8 years ago. It came with my 5K2 that I still have. Then I was in a tournament a couple years later and a guy walked by and accidentally kicked it and it broke the ferrule straight off. So while that one was sent in, I bought another just to have as a backup. Since then I sent in the one that I use as my break shaft and now the other that I use as 1 of my shooters has cracked. No big deal they have warrantied them both times. Just seeing if anyone else has had any issues.

Ferrule 214-2 Crack

Recently the ferrule on my 314-2 starting cracking in three places where the ferrule meets the wood. I sent it to Seybert's and they replace it under warranty. I had them install a Moori with a pad so the ferrule will not crack again. The pad makes the cue hit firmer with a medium tip on it.

Sharing my experience. I've owned at least 8 different predator shafts over the years. 1st one with a problem. I break with my playing cue sometimes even thought I have a break cue.

You're not the first to report an issue with the ferrule with the 314-2. You can use the search feature on AZ to see what issues were denied replacement (equipment abuse), or covered under warranty.

Best of luck, and let us know the outcome.

They are thin-walled nylon ferrules.
They crack often. It's the nature of the beast .
You want a lightweight soft ferrule and hole-drilled at the front to reduce mass ?
You will have a lot of them crack.
