Hey all,
Just a quick question. My cushions are the original brunswick superspeed and they seem lively to my untrained eye even though they are likely 40+ years old. I get about 4 table lengths with a hard shot down the middle so i don't think they have lost any bounce.
I have replaced all of the rail hardware and am confident the rails are very secure. There is still a bit of a hollow noise when a ball hits the rails with speed. Just wondering what the cause of this would normally be.
please note that I used threaded inserts so the floating nuts are just sitting in the cavity with nothing attached to them. I was trying to think about what could cause that and these seemed the most likely to me:
1. Hollow area in the rail to hold the floating nuts. If so,this would be common to all of the gold crown tables.
2. The combination of the hollow area in the rails and the loose floating nuts - if this is the case i will just get them taken out when I have the cushions replaced in a couple years.
3. The cushions are going even though they seem ok to my untrained eye.
