Pin Change ?

How much trouble to change out a pin. And expected cost.
Butt has a radial pin but not standard ( it does not screw in say a predator radial shaft).

The problem is not the joint screw but the phenolic insert in the Predator shafts. The shaft needs to be chased with the standard tap. Not the undersized. Phenolic is different than wood.

Mike your shaft didn't fit this butt either. Butt came from the Philippines so likely a non standard radial. Didn't really want to butcher a shaft as it likely will be loose on any other butt. But one of you would certainly know better than I so my ears are open.

That explains it. Some of the makers over there use a different screw that looks the radial but it's thread count is different.

Anybody willing to comment or give a ball park idea on this part...Maybe even consider turning the joint down a bit?

PM would be fine if you wish.

Thanks

Come to Providence and watch the Joss tour. Drop your cue off here first. I'll change the screw and give itback to you 5 hours later. I have no interest in changing the joint taper.

New radial pin is about $25.
Depending on work for installing a new pin (if I have to bore and re-tap)
Id say about $100 everything included.

Lol...... Price quoting in open forum is discouraged against. Thought you knew

I did not intend it as a price quote for a job, I just stated what I thought it would cost him in labour and materials.
I'm in Norway, so I doubt he is planning to send his cue from Maine to Oslo and back :-)
But I did not know that was against the rules, so thanks for the heads up.

Thanks Mike and Kim,

I understood you Kim that was kind of also what I was looking for just a ball park idea.

All cur makers are going to be a bit different as is understandable. I knew rough cost of the pin already so no big secret let out there....INTERNET.

Mike Thanks again for the offer...shooting a tournament this weekend or popping into Snookers and visit you would be a great idea. Don't see Steve very often but sure that may have been an option.
