Well I broke down and used some of my Visa points and a gift card and ordered an OB Classic + shaft for my Lucasi cue.

It wasn't that I didn't like the Lucasi (custom) shaft, as much as I liked the taper on my old Cuetec R360 and a friends Vikore shaft that I tried.

I have to say, I was fooling around with a shot with top left and found that I could hit it without adjusting for squirt on my R360 but had to make an aiming adjustment on the Lucasi.

What should I expect from my new toy?

No I wasn't implying it would help me make more shots lol. One can always hope though.

I've had all the LD's on the market.
My game got considerably better when I was finally done with my LD phase.
Couldn't be happier.
But that's just me. I know I'm in minority but I tend to like my cues the way the maker designed them to hit.
Don't see the point in getting a thousand dollar cue if you're just gonna numb it down with an LD shaft.......lol :smile: :) :frown: :eek:
 
Classic+ is a good LD shaft. It has low deflection and a pretty firm, solid hit. I had one briefly and liked the feel, just wasn't the right choice at the right time on the right cue for me....but I'd buy one again sometime. Was surprised at how firm hitting it was, good feel.

Fair enough but this wasn't really a thread about the benefits of LD or superiority of standard maple.

Actually all three shafts I mention are designed to be LD in one form or another.

Just hoping to elicit some responses from those with experience with the OB shaft.

So you dont use LD shafts? How good of a player are you?

Before I quit APA a few years ago I was 7 to 8 in 9-ball.
I'm no worse today than I was back then.

But I don't see how this is relevant.
Using LD does not mean you're better. It's just a preference.
Efren and Strickland (and dozens of others) use standard shafts.
They seem to do ok with them.

Besides I never noticed any major difference in the deflection
whether I was using a LD or solid maple shaft.

Maybe just a little if you're hitting the ball off center at break speed.

Other than that the difference was so little that I figured I want
to stay with the awesome feel and confidence of the solids.

Also since you always have to compensate anyway, Solid or LD,
what then does it matter?

Humm wonder why BB puts LD shaft's on 30k cues :rolleyes:

Most are similar

There isn't one of them that doesn't squirt to some degree. I would think the hit is what you should focus on...do you like it or not?
