I"m sick of laminate trimmers, I'll tell you that much. I'd buy a Chinese spindle from Ebay. Wait...I just did.

2.2kw with ER20 and a mount for 250.00. I already have spare vfd's, so that wasn't an issue.

I've got several Rigid, Bosch, and Dewalt laminate trimmers here you can have...real cheap. I'm sure they all need bearings(not a big deal and if you go that route, get used to changing them anyway) though.

Good stuff but I hated the slow start and weight.

For trim routers I recommend Bosch Colt or the small Makita.
For full suze, Makita all the way.
Tom Datum ( Deco Cue here ) makes the mounts.

I am very happy with my Bosh Colt router:thumbup:. You can buy a mount from Deco Cue here in AZ like Joey said. or you can have him make one that will fit what you need.

You realize all that can be controlled within the parameters of the VFD? Excel, decel......

Mass is good when machining..

I set it to the fastest setting and still too slow for me .
Went with UGRA on my main taper machine and have not looked back.

Still use Bosch for a rougher and went with Makita on the Taper Shaper.

Fastest setting too slow? I don't get it, especially since the Ugra is a Chinese spindle..... I can spin up my Bridgeport pretty fast, although I haven't tried faster than 3 secs(think that is what it it set at) that and don't see a need

Ugra is too proud of their stuff....

Maybe a lot of RPM but not enough TORQUE? It happen to my quiet router on my UNIQUE TAPER SHAPER. Now I use Bosh Colt 1 hp more than enough to cut

The Chinese(what I am getting) have a native frequency of 400hz at 24000. Below that torque remains the same and HP drops off relative to the frequency. At 200hz it would be spinning around 12k with around 1.5hp. I could see if you bought a .7k where that might be a problem.

What confuses me is that he now USES a Chinese spindle. I thought he was complaining about them....

Are you hogging with that thing at all? The nice thing about my table saw it the 1" to .750 taper in less than 30 secs...

Not like that . .100 on maple , maybe. But, not hard woods .

I don't do cones anymore, but that would be nice . Go from rod to first taper after three cuts or so. It depends on the offset, but it does take me more time on my main taperer with the cnc spindle. If I'm going to do a lot of them, I take out the spindle and replace with a 3HP Dewalt. Noisy as hell, but will hog out .

Pics show a Makita trimmer for threading and boring.
And UGRA spindle on Delrin sleeve b/c it's really small. I remove the Delrin for the Dewalt router when needed.
