Why are some cue makers so rude and have bad attitudes?

I never asked anyone to make me a shaft for $50. The cue maker made the offer to me. I did not PM him. He sent me a PM with the offer.

YOUR LISTING ON THE WANTED FORUM STATES THE FOLLOWING;

I would like to find a really good quality shaft (maybe by a known cue maker) for no more then $50 shipped.

I do not want anything with a short stiff hitting taper.

I like nice very long tapered shafts

Please let me know if you have something you would be willing to sell.

Needs to be for a 3/8x10 flat faced joint.

I do not really care about weight, but if you know the mm of your shaft, that would be helpful.

I am not picky about needing a certain mm shaft, or a certain weight in the shafts, but I just like it to be of very good quality, straight (fairly), and have a nice long taper.

Please also let me know the lowest amount of money you would be willing to sell your shaft for (including the cost of shipping to, Louisville, KY, 40216).

Thanks for any offers.

Honesty problem? You're asking for $50 INCLUDING the shipment.

Sorry, I think he got fed up. He could have handled it better.
I am shocked someone even took the job.

Yeah, if you are trying to be nice and help a person out with a really generous offer (and you are the one that made the offer), then why feel the need to get such a bad attitude over a request? You guys seem to think that I am the one that contacted the cue maker 1st, and asked him to make me a 12.3mm shaft for $50. He replied to my wanted ad, and a kindly made that request. I am just too sensitive (I know).

Please understand that I would never ask a cue maker to make me a shaft for any certain price. If I were to contact one of those cue makers, I would ask them how much they would charge to make me a 12.3mm shaft. I do not want to waste anyones time. I just do not like people that have bad attitudes. Is it too much to just be nice. Tell the person how much you would need to charge extra for the 12.3mm shaft, instead of getting a bad attitude about the request.

Some guys would rather be dicks to you in this thread, than to actually educate you about shaft pricing.

You will be hard pressed to find any shaft for a cue under the $100 mark. And if you do find something around that mark, it will be a "take it or leave it" configuration. Retapers can cost anywhere from $20-40 depending on who is doing it. A quality shaft will cost anywhere from $150-$300 for any cue.

If you're looking for a shaft around the $50 mark, you'd be better off saving your pennies until you can afford a $150-$200 shaft, and buy one of those. It will stay straight long after you receive your second paycheque. The $50 shaft, not so much.

Hope that helps.

Not Gilbert or Owen he suggested you call.
They should be in the $200 range now.

I am not that stupid. I would not even ask a completely unknown cue maker to make me a shaft for $50. I realize that my WTB ad was a long shot, but I thought that maybe someone had an old good quality 3/8x10 shaft that they no longer used, and was not worth much to them. I never asked anyone to make me a new shaft for $50. I guess asking the cue maker if he would make the shaft 12.3mm was really stupid, but he could have been nice in his replies. In the future, please just try to be nice (and not have a bad attitude) with the few of us over sensitive types. Thanks

Well, there may be some options out around $50 for something decent thats used, but a new build....well that's of course a different story.

I didn't offer to make you a new shaft. That was someone else.
Don't nag on me please.
Call him instead.

Thanks for at least being nice in your reply. The thing that I do not understand is why it is so hard to get even a $100 out of an entire well made custom cue (like a really nice 4 point with veneers Adcock custom that I had for sell on here for the longest time, and was eventually able to get $115 shipped out of it), but when it comes to requesting a nice used shaft for $50, I mast be crazy for making a request like that, and how dare I think that I can get anything decent for $50. If the market is so bad, then why not?

What you are claiming and what your want ad shows are different.
You also mentioned you were not particular about the MM.
Then you ambushed that guy with 12.3MM when?

I never said who the cue maker that made the offer to me is, and I did not accuse you of anything. Was just replying to your reply (in this thread). I noted at the start of this thread that the cue maker has a 0 itrader on this forum.

Many cuemakers are easy going, good people in my experience. Only a few are premadonas in my opinion.

I've only dealt with one cue maker. Mainly due to the fact i like his product and trust the guy. But i would imagine most are very easy going.

Yes, he sent me a PM, and offered to make me a shaft for $50. I understand that it was stupid of me to request him to turn it down to 12.3mm for me, but my point was that some cue makers have a really bad attitude.

Well, whatever maker that was, you're a saint and I don't blame you for being peeved when someone looks a gift horse in the mouth.

Some offer to help someone and that someone tries to abuse the good deed.
Then whines about it.
