Which S or SS tip is the most consistent?

I find that my game is based on control and position. For this reason I like to play either a S or SS tip. I started playing with Kamui Black SS and for a while they worked very well. Lately I have found that the hardness is not consistent. Two out of three that I try seem to play like a medium tip. I am looking for a tip that is consistent in hardness and soft. Any input would be greatly appreciated.

I have had the same kamui black soft tip on my playerfor over 2 years and it has been terrific.

very little maint and plays as close to the orig moori mediums that I loved long long ago.

If you are having consistency probs with kamuis, my first question would be did you buy them from an auth kamui dealer?

there have been an awful lot of counterfeits circulating around.

best,

I have a Kamui SS Black & it is fine after taking a few layers off & it's staying fine. (The Black is for humid climates while the brown is for dry climates.)

I also have a G2 soft on another shaft & it's fine after the initial break in period. I did not really like it at first because it had a 'hard' sound to it, but that faded away after a short time. I'm not sure what the cause was, but it was there & I did not like a 'hard' sound on a soft tip as that could subconsciously affect one's stroke 'speed' or 'firmness' of 'hits'.

I Played the soft Elk Masters & Blue Diamonds for decades & I liked them but they did require some maintenance & changing out.

Good Luck with what you decide.

This has got to be my favorite posting topic on this forum: Equipment.

Why?
Everyone answers the question(s) without any bickering or semblance of acrimony.

Lots of knowledge on here.

It's nice to go through the postings and learn something of which I am not familiar.
Thanks guys and gals!

I got one of my elk masters out of the box and soaked it in milk over night. It expanded like a marshmellow. I had it installed and now I am getting the spin like Efren get without even trying. Do not press this tip, just install it with a dime radius and you are good to go.

KAMUI BLACK CLEAR......soft & super-soft........best tip in my opinion since original Moori brown tips stopped being made a long ago & I don't care for the current Moori tips. Go soft or super-soft in KAMUI BLACK CLEAR.

g2 soft or moori soft
have been using them for 1-2 years
for me they play great....
p.s i switched from kamui black soft

Efren has used these forever because they were always available in the Philippines. He always had them compressed hard in a vise before using them.

UltraSkin ProSofts on both of my OB2 shafts. The tip has remained very consistent on shaft #1. Can't really judge it on shaft #2 since it's a backup and doesn't get played very often.

I should also note that I use a Kamui GatorGrip scuffing tool because it doesn't remove (much) leather as it scuffs...so I haven't worn away layers of the UltraSkin tip. It's been on for a year and I'm probably still on the first layer.

You may have hit on a real issue. Both places that I purchased them from are supposedly "legitimate businesses" but I have had problems with the one that gave me the harder SS tips. I will go back to my original source and try them again. thanks for your help!!

I keep hearing about Ultra Skin tips from not only you but several of the other people who have responded. I will also get some of them as well as some G2 soft.
This is really a great forum to get assistance!!!!!

definitely do.

legit businesses and authorized dealers are not necessarily the same. :yeah:

Try the Kamikaze black and now recently the browns, I've found them to be very consistent and hold their hardness through out prolonged play. But I like to press my tips then shape them to preference.

Very inexpensive to try, approx $4/tip if bought in small samples.

Has anyone tried the Pechauer Gold soft tip?? I hit a medium on a friends cue and the tip was nice but loud at impact.
