Where is the pool bar scene still very active (popular among the general public)?

I am very curious if there are many places left with an active pool bar scene (if I am saying that correctly)?

Places where you walk in, and see like 8 sets of quarters sitting on the rail, with many players waiting to play the winner of the next game?

Maybe I have just not gotten out enough, but I have not seen this since the early 2000's (in my home college town in Southern Illinois).

These days the general public in the bars could care less about playing pool I think.

The pool tables just sit there taking up space, and rarely get played on.

I miss the 90's so much.

Pool so so much alive back then, for most bar goers, and not just the serious players.

Thanks for any info about city's or towns in the USA that still have a very lively pool scene in the bars.

Just curious.

Thanks

Still like that here. Guess I'm Lucky. Local bar here usually has 4-8 people playing every afternoon. Usually for $2-$5 a game. I go about twice a week, sometimes more. Usually drink for free and make a little pocket change.

A couple places in Wichita have a challenge table. In one place it's $.50 and the other is only $.25!

Oh, I figured the pool scene might still be really strong in Kansas (just not sure about the bar pool scene). I was never a drinker, but it was so cool putting my 50 cents on the rail, then waiting the 8 or 9 games till it was my turn, and then running that table all night long till the bar closed at 2 am. I wish I knew where bars like that still existed (area's where most of the general bar goer public love to play pool).

The pool scene in Kansas is pretty strong, however, I don't really have much to compare it to. I moved here in 96 from the Phoenix area to take a job. Most places have a bar and serve food. There are tournaments every weekend in a few places and leagues of one kind or another just about every night of the week. There is action here too if you want it. Kansas City area and Tulsa OK are only 2 - 3 hours away.

The Bar Pool Scene is historically strong in areas where
continued bad weather prevails. The Midwest (Upper/Lower),
the Northeast and Northwest in particular are strong in Bar
League participation.
Here in the greater Sacramento area, the weather is generally
moderate enough for outdoor activity even during the Winter
months. Our Bar League schedule runs for 32 weeks, late Sept
to late May, resulting in a very long season. Around March/April
every year I always say "I'll never play League again", then Sept
rolls around and I usually fall back in line for another year.

In St. Louis you are more likely to find a bar with at least one table in it and typically there are people playing at it.

In my area there are several within a 5 mile radius that are pretty active.
