2016 US Open One Pocket dates?

Anyone have any details on this... searched online and CSI and can't seem to find any info.

No tournament is scheduled for 2016. Over on onepocket.org we are discussing options.

Look for the Hey Mark Griffin thread.

Well then its time to have it. Bring it to North Carolina we have the place.

Does the place have tough tables suitable for 1pocket?

Do you have added money? Say $5-$10K...

Can you accommodate spectators and video streaming?

Are you prepared to provide personal for organizing, promoting, and running the tournament?

Can you commit to having all tables and related equipment in "US Open" condition for the event?

Well that might be why it washt held last year!

Still working on it. Bottom line is we need sponsors and location. CSI looses between minimum of $5,000 and as high as $15,000 each year.

Added money and transportation of tables are major factors.

And 'real' ideas, please contact me. Ideally, an aggressive room needs to jump in. Lou's pose covers most of the highlights of costs. This will be run under CSI rules and standards. Only needs minimum of 8 tournament tables (one extra backup table helps a lot) - but 13 to 16 is ideal and allows up to 64 man field.

Now is the time to step up! This will all be fiscussed in a real soon podcast.

Lou,
I have spoken to Mike at Chandleys. I don't think there are going to be any problems at this point with added money through a sponsor. Mark has to find the best situation for his events and that is between the owners. I am not sure about the streaming but from conversations I have had I feel sure that can be arranged through someone. There is ample vendor space available to raise funds for added money. 16- 9 ft Diamond Pro Cut Pocket tables, Complete Bar and Food Service and the local rooms are affordable. I do not know of the availability of shuttle service but its 3 miles max to the room from lots of hotel locations close by. All the normal restaurant accommodations and within 2 miles of I-77, I-40 interchange in Statesville, NC. Its easy to get there. Air Ports in Charlotte 45 min from the location. Looking into renting or buying risers for chairs for the events.

Here I have to put in a plug for Chandley's.

How 'bout having it at Lacy's in New Orleans? Give me an extra reason to drive on over and eat some good food.

One pocket

Hello everyone ,

It's been a long while since I have commented on this site. I have been a little busy with opening and running the new and improved California billiards. Now that things are running smoothly it allows me to concentrate on events for 2016. I talked to mark this morning and expressed my interest in holding the open in our room. I can say that the added money can be done, but the question is will the east coast players make the trip. I am thinking of holding a 10ball tournament in line with holding the open one pocket. I believe this might help convince some people from the east coast to make the trip.

I would love to hear what everyone's thoughts are on the idea or any other ideas that could work.

Either way we will make sure that the 2016 one pocket open will happen!!!

Thanks,
Chris swart

I'm going out on a limb here but humor me.

How about we have several rooms that are able to host events of this magnitude all over the country. Each of us finds some added money from our local Chamber of Commerce or somewhere and we each develop our added pot of monies.

Then in the interest of organization we operate off a singular online calendar where we don't step all over each other especially if we are close to each other and we all have events of this magnitude.

By posting to an online calendar arranged by region i.e. Eastern, Southwestern, Northwestern, Central, Northern Mid West and Southern Mid West and North Eastern. We would all know where we are and observe each others events.

This might just give rise to touring pros having tournaments to play in and the rooms able to focus on getting the added monies together and figuring out a way to deal with the business of streaming and taking care of customers in the ways they see fit.

In other words some Organization at the Top and businesses flourishing at the bottom that are free to make money by having events. The pros would know where to go to get to a tournament room and would do so based on where they live and where they want to go.

+1 for Chandley's. I'd love to see that room and get some exposure for owners that take a chance opening up a top notch room.
