I know he is sponsored by ariel carmeli or was. Does anybody know what the southwest style cue is ? Ld shaft?

Hard to keep track of what he's using...
Alex switches cues more often than my wife changes her mind.

About his shaft, I remember alex used hpII from mezz many years ago, then he got sponsored by ob cues and used their shafts, but last year he switched back to hpII for some reason, but i'm not sure if he is still using hpII in the current derby city, Ive not watched him play in dcc yet because I don't buy everyday due to timezone, but yea there's good chance that he is using hpII shaft.

Didn't he used to play with a Schon with a Predator shaft as well?

I've seen him use a lot of different cues, swapping mid-match even.

yes he tends to change equipment quite frequently, thats true, but he always come back to his hpII mezz shaft, he played with it the longest time, its the same shaft that he beat Shane with in his 100 games challenge of which alex came from behind to win it. I need to see him play in this year dcc and ill know if he's using hpII shaft still

I left from dcc today (saturday) but alex match against Bustamante he used a brand new hp2 on his southwest style cue. Then the next match he played marc vidal and used a Ld shaft with matching ringwork no logo but lots of lamination like the jacoby shafts

Alex

So with whatever he was playing with he just won the all around title at DCC
Is that correct?

Alex is the one of the best in the world, and it seems that we don't here about him for awhile but when it counts booyah right to the top!

Way to go!

I haven't seen Alex play lately but he's been one of my very favorites since I first saw him at the New York State 9 Ball Championship many, many years ago, when he first started coming out of Canada. Last time I saw him was at the US Open in 2011 and he was still playing with his Schon after all these years. The Pixie could win using a broom handle with a tip on it!!

Ariel Carmeli had posted his well wishes in Alex's win, and that he was shooting with one of his cues on his personal Facebook page.

Nothing said in specificity about the hardware, however, this would indicate to me that the butt and shaft are both Carmeli offerings.

Ariel Carmeli has been an absolutely fantastic cue maker to work with and i've received a few items from him over the years. He has always been humble, polite, thorough and timely to work with in each dealing. Hit products could speak for themselves, but having the maker also chime in makes adds a touch over what I hear coming from many AZB folks in their dealings with custom cuemakers.

Talked to Ariel on the phone the other day, he stated that Alex was playing with one of his cues at the derby and ever since Alex did as well as he did, Ariel's phone has been blowing up. I guess it is simple. Buy a Carmeli cue...play like Alex. I can't wait to get mine in a few weeks.

The hoppe style cue Alex was playing with looked like an Ariel Carmeli, but the sw style cue looked like an actual Southwest. Hard to tell

he's practicing in front of me last night at metro billiards in carson,ca....looks like carmeli cue with looks like OB shaft..its ld for sure...didn't bother to ask thou
