break shaft vs buying a jump break

I'm looking into buying a jump break cue but i was thinking since i have an extra butt from my old playing cue, i could just buy a standard maple break shaft thats $32 and buy a nice jump cue. Would buying a cheap jump break cue be better or should i stick with my plan? Im on somewhat of a budget so i didnt wanna spend more than about 100-150

.

A break shaft is fine but why not just pay $65 for a new J&J jump break cue.

.

Well what i was going to do was buy the shaft and then maybe a poison jump cue because ive used it before and it was great. But im not sure if getting a jump/break is better than an individual jump and individual break cue.

you can get a break jump cue cheap, and trust me a 60 dollar one is hits just as good as a 300 dollar one with a big cat on it.

For $100 or less I would recommend a jump-break by Action or J&J
The Action j/b is pretty cool looking and they work great.

Do you by any chance know if players jump breaks are any good? Theyre about the same price and look much nicer.

Players is another good brand on lower end cues, I would bet that their jump / breaks are as good as Action or J&J

I picked up my Gino Ferrari break cue for $60 and it's a monster.

I picked up my Jacoby Jumper for $60 (simultaneously won that money back gambling with that guy that day lol) and it's also a monster. If you ask around for one on any Facebook pool page you can find one for like $75.

That being said, I started out with a Players JB cue that worked very well for me. I know another player who uses a Rage JB and it suits him fine.

I think it's well worth it to buy a good break cue and a good jump cue though.

Converting a starter cue into a break cue is common. I know many people who simply added a harder tip, and are happy. I also know people who weren't satisfied and bought the latest Lomax Jump/Break.

Just my thoughts.

I have a JB and also bought one of those jump cues from the Drill Sargent, I think it is Poison. It is a cheap piece of crap.

Save your money and learn to kick. I rarely use the jump cues because many leagues don't allow them.

I did some practice on my home table before getting to recovered and don't do any practice jumping on it now because of the damage it does. Dont believe that crap about it just Bing cosmetic. I don't think PH owners appreciate you practice on their table either.

Good Morning,

The Players Jump Break Cues not only perform great they also are one of the only brands to offer you a Special High-Impact Ferrule. The high-impact ferrule on a Players cue is so durable that it carries a lifetime guarantee against chipping or cracking.

I have sold hundreds of Players Cues and for the money you can go wrong. Fell free to visit my website and call me personally with any questions toll free 1-844-MAN-CUES.

Here is a link to all the break jump cues on ManningCues.com:

I agree with you. I would protect my cloth from dings. At least put a protective piece under breaking and jump. shots,.

A couple of points from my history:

A) you really want a different shaft on a break cue than on a jump cue. The break cue wants (something close to) a straight taper for power and stiffness; while the jump cue wants a thinner taper so the shaft is light and will deflect out of the way of the rising CB.

B) I used a joe-random cue from my home table as a break cue for 6-ish years. But recently I switched to my cue with a 314-1 shaft on it (had not been used in a couple of years so it fell into the why not department). Well, there is significantly more power from the 314 than from the joe random cue <shaft>; and my breaking percentages have gone up markedly.

players/axiom

get a players or axiom, they look high end and break and jump great. i had an expensive break n jump cue a while back and it hit no better then my axiom i picked up for cheap.

a separate jump cue and break cue would mean putting more stuff in the case - makes you look more like a pro.

It has the PureX break shaft on it though.
