American female players who play pool full time?

I imagine that maybe some of the female Asian players and Euro players play full time, but I am curious if any of the US American female players play full time?

I have not followed female pool in a long time, so I am pretty clueless as to who the top 10 or top 5 female players in the world are, but I can think of 1 Euro player, and 2 Asian players that are top 5 for sure (I imagine).

One other question that I had on my mind is if you think any of the top 5 female players in the world could give good competition to any of the top 5 or top 10 men players (maybe in a short race, to 7 for example)?

Please forgive me, but I just have not followed female pool in a long time, so I do not know how strong the females are playing these days?

Would any of them be any competition to any of the top 10 men players?

Just curious about your opinions on that.

Thanks.

The current women rankings by the WPA (World Pool-Billiard Association) can be found here: http://www.wpa-pool.com/web/Rankings.

And here is where to find the top players according to their FargoRates: http://www.fargorate.com/Home/TopTen. As I type this, the buttons are not calling up the lists, but I imagine it will be working pretty soon.

Yes, any of the top women are capable of beating top-level male players in short races. One recent example was Karen Corr (41st on the above WPA list) beating the current number-one ranked male, Ko Pin-Yi, 11-4 in the first round of the most recent US Open 9-Ball event.

Some friends and I were discussing these players and stats earlier today and now we have the numbers/facts. Thanks!

Full time as in makes enough to live off of or it's their only job? I'm pretty sure Jennifer Barretta only plays pool, besides being a mother which is a full time job in itself.

I understand. I was thinking that some make a living at just playing pool. Maybe not in the US, but in Asia. I was thinking Allison Fisher may be playing full time, but she might now be semi retired. I understand that many probably just play part time, and have jobs and families, but I imagine the top Asian players really do play full time. Just was not sure about American female players.

I think it's tough for 99% of professional pool players, male or female. You can get by but it's not easy... and not without some help. I'd guess most don't get by without giving lessons.
