I'll be meeting up with Pat tomorrow afternoon to beat up on him playing One Pocket, as per usual for us.....all of you who only know him online, might/would be surprised to see how friendly, respectful, and amiable a guy he is in person to play pool with.

- Ghost

PS, And he doesn't even question, contest, refute, or disavow any of the One Pocket knowledge/methodology/tenets that I share with him.

I've known Pat for over 15 years, played many games, he's watched me win a tournament in Chicagoland, and we've eaten Chinese takeout together. Great guy.

Iif you're showing him one hole moves, he's got to be soaking it up.

Freddie <~~~ it was the Chinese food

Yes. He's a good guy and fun to be around.

Some of the best dudes in real life come across as complete asshats on the internet. Some of the coolest people on the internet are complete asshats in real life. Go figure.

I've met up with PJ a few times, usually at Chris's. He's a good dude to hang around with.

This forum is a lesser place without him.

He hides his amiability well for a curmudgeon.
Don't get played,

I think I agree with you.

We agreed on some things, but PJ's tooth pulling, word games, semantics games, denial regarding some matters along with an arrogant & condescending demeanor etc., that seemed to only be for his personal entertainment did not really provide any real help for those that are looking to find better ways to play better.

Perhaps AZB should throw a big live meet & greet so everyone can see each other in a real life setting & then the forums might be a more civil environment.

I for one do not miss him & I did not the last time he was not here for I think 2 years.

I know there are a few that would like to see me on a long or permanent vacation.

That's what happens when you takes stands on matters. You upset some of those on the other side of your stance.

But... just because we disagree does not mean that we have to get personal & start insulting the other side personally.

Like SmoothStroke recently said, we should remember that we all have the common bound of the game & some of us are passionate about it & matters concerning it. That is no reason to become uncivil in our discussions.

If I say that your grip is wrong for the stroke that you are using, you do not have to & should not take THAT as a personal affront. It is merely my take on that matter based on my experience.

I would only be trying to help. That said, some say things not so much to really help but to pump up their own egos by trying to impress.

Tone & tenure are important & are not easily transmitted through a text only format, but can be very easily misunderstood through a text only format.

Also, there are rather many games that some play on AZB as they use those for their entertainment & they have no concern for the other individuals.

We make Gumbo where I'm from, but we do not put in poison mushrooms that would certainly spoil & ruin an otherwise very good Gumbo.

We also purge craw fish before we make them a very good meal.

Our agreement with our game, is that if I let Pat use his protractor, slide rule, and theodolite during games, his spot goes down by one ball...:D

- Ghost

PS, And as an aside...in my 13 years here on azbilliards, I've never posted/voiced an opinion in any of the infamous aiming threads...but here and now I will state this: The one incontestably accurate aiming method is to utilize a theodolite before shooting...:thumbup2:
