Purse $ Down At Auction Tournaments

Have the purses gone down in most of the tournaments that have an auction? I always though auctions were a good thing to get more mainstream viewers to watch pool, but not if it means less purse money for the players, Not all players buy themselves. Johnnyt

Where has this been a thing? The Big Tyme Classic has always added whatever sponsorship money we have received. Last year was 10k added and this year was 8k. We still added the same amount to the main event 9 ball though. Both years we have had auctions with the first auction being in the 60k range.
