THE FREEZER TAKES IT DOWN!!!
Scott Frost emerged the victor over the legendary Efren Reyes in the marathon race-to-thirty one pocket extravaganza, The Duel In The Desert, hosted by the Casino Del Sol in beautiful Tucson, AZ.
Efren came out of the gate 2-0 & it looked like it was going to be a real dogfight. However, Scott was having none of it & roared back to take a 3-2 lead. They traded games for a bit & after a few uncharacteristic mistakes by Efren, Scott closed out the day with a score of 10-6.
Day Two was all Frost. Playing nearly flawless one pocket, Scott kept Efren off balance. His moves constantly put Efren on defense & Scott showed little mercy as he pocketed ball after ball. Commentator Billy Incardona, in the booth with PoolActionTV’s Scott Rabon, stated that Scott was playing as good as he had ever seen him play. At the end of Day Two, the score stood at 20-9.
For all the one pocket fans who had hoped for a topnotch battle between these two superstars, Day Three was just that. Efren & Scott traded games but unfortunately, the huge lead was just too insurmountable to overcome. After three days of play, the final score was 30-17.
In post match interviews by Billy Incardona, Efren was gracious in defeat as he complimented Scott on his stellar play & said that he couldn’t expect to win after missing so many balls. Scott stated that despite playing so well, he never felt comfortable for the entirety of the match – even with his large lead – because he knew the level Efren was capable of playing. He dedicated his win to his close friend, Lawrence Ybarra, who is in hospice.
Efren was sponsored in this match by Puyat, San Miguel Beer & Tip Tool by George. Scott was sponsored by QB Custom Cues, Volturi Cue Cases & Bull Shooters in Phoenix, AZ where Scott is the House Pro.
