How to tell when a line on slate is a problem?

HI,

I found what appears to be a good table. It is a national billiards table and looKS like a gold crown copy. There are some lines running on the slate when I checked the bottom. I was wondering if lines that could be cracks should always be avoided or if there are things to look for that would indicate they aren't a big issue.

Thanks!

Chris

Lines? What does that mean? Pictures may help a little.

Working on a pic.

The lines are jagged and I couldn't feel them when running my hand over them. I saw them on the underside of the table.

I see no cracks but what I do see is a poorly constructed table. Hold out for something constructed from solid hardwood and not plywood.
