2016 World 9-Ball Championship

I can't wait for Shane to win and the haters to say "well he had the easiest draw of the tournament so of course he would win."

why do you worry? svb has 4 US Open titles (3-peat included) and almost won w9b last year. there is no doubt he's one of the best there is.

The Philippines remains a pool powerhouse, with at least a dozen world class players at any one time. But for a break here or there, it could have been Dennis, Lee Vann, Warren or Carlo still in. Sad about the USA though. Without Shane, who do we have? No one is correct. Oscar is game but still a speed below the top guys. Dechaine refuses to go and get the experience he needs to compete on this level.

At least in North America we also have Alex and John Morra, both world class as well. Still that's it for our continent, three lonely players who can compete on the world stage with any chance of success. Europe is far ahead in that respect, with a whole slew of rising talent, and they will continue to dominate the Mosconi Cup. Our young players don't seem to be as motivated (maybe Skyler is the exception) to succeed at this level.

you're wrong

pool is a niche game there amoungst the poor in a few of the bigger towns only

it's easy to think otherwise living here

I've been there and I've been away now for more than 13 years now. Pool there ain't going nowhere. Even Efren's discovery by a journalist was because of civil unrest. If memory serves, his name was John Grissim, he ran and hid because of the Molotov cocktails and shooting that was buzzing over his head. There was a big rally then and all hell broke loose. He took a turn to an old dilapidated building to avoid the unruly crowd and chanced upon Efren playing Rotation with the ghost. I was there when it was bad, Martial Law ruled the land, Curfew was enforced nationwide, and Efren and the gang was still shooting pool. I used to skipped my high school classes just to watch the then 20 year old Efren take all comers. I live 10 minutes away from Efren's lairs, the Lucky 13 and Sunrise billiard halls.

Nothing will change there...
