If Albin comes for the US Open 9b, I think it would be great if Shane and Albin plays before or after the tournament. Thus all traveling cost is negated.

If all Albin is willing to play is $1K, that'll work. Make it race to 21. With PPV apperance fee, it might be a free roll for him.

If they dont do challenge matches, the likelihood of them meeting in a tournament(not MC Cup) might be once every 2yrs if that since Albin isn't a regular in the U.S.

Good words. Many things to consider.

The PPV live stream audience pays for the livestream and other expenses related to most PPV livestreams.

With what happened at the Qatar World 9 Ball Event, it appears that even oil rich Qatar decided that they didn't want to pay for another free live stream. "FREE" is just someone else footing the bill.

As to why Albin or any other European player would play in one of the "FIGHT NIGHT" one-on-one matches that www.poolactiontv.com puts on is quite simple, to have a chance to earn money of course and to test themselves against opponents that they normally don't face.

How the players get paid and how much they get paid is part of the construction of these events. Sometimes the players themselves like to put up part of the purse and other times, a backer who thinks their player can beat another player will put up their player's part of the entry.

Some players enjoy testing themselves in unfamiliar environments, against different opponents than what they are used to competing against and not just for the money. I doubt that many traveling players that go to the Philippines win a lot of money after it is all said and done.

For the wager, I can speak for nobody but IMO why should anyone refuse such an offer, even if it's one time. The worst case he loses and life moves on. He doesnt risk anything.

However, I can see alot of time and works to put this up.
1. The player has to spend time to communicate with the potential backer.
2. The backer must be trustworthy and the money must be posted.
3. In some cases I totally understand some players wont even come for such "free lunch" because they have tight schedule and unless the match is set near a tourney like US Open, Im not sure they even bother.

To sum up, they need a reason to come. A guy like Albin wont bother come and play a match with Justin Bergman "for the American audience". No disrespect for Justin but if only for the sake of playing pool against a worthy opponent. Albin can find a bunch of guys similar or better, even slightly weaker than Justin to play with in EU.

I see your point of getting the world champion here so you can have a good ppv. But what's in it for him? Again no disrespect, who cares about and an audience of few hundred ppvers. The guy is the world champion. This is not personal nor arrogant but plain common sense imo.

Shane would totally have won a race to 100 money game, on a bar box, winner breaks, rack your own.

Same question, is the trip worth it?
The different opponents you are talking about are guys that have never won anything significant Yet and don't even bother show up in international events. And don't tell me that those guy who play 30k 40k a set can't afford those international events. They don't want to invest in pool, dont want to go to strange water playing in events that they might go 2 and out. And they blab about playing anybody coming in their home town. I lol at those guys.
If I am the world champion, I see no reason to leave my family, take 15 hours flight to go play those guys. Those guys suppose to come and play me if they want to start winning anything. Again, common sense.
The only US player that Imo Albin would be interested in playing against is SVB. But SVB is different case because they have plenty of chance to match up during international events.
In any case I saw no reason for him to come, really. Unless you pay him say 1000, 1500 + travel money to come for a challenge match and then you can side bet.

I disagree with that statement. I think Shane prevented himself from winning that match. Albin played great no doubt, but Shane made many uncharacteristic errors and the "Shane dog face" showed itself pretty early. If you're unfamiliar with the Shane dog face, it's the face he makes when he's mentally defeated. In the past 2 W9B's, we've watched him steamroll people and look untouchable up until the final.
