Dreaming about Pool

I do remember waking up after playing pool 'unconscious'. It seemed like
a dream! Does that count??

Same as you JoeyA, As much as pool is in our lives, and never dream about it, it has to be more to it.

I seem to recall that Buddy Hall, as a younger player, had a dream about his bridge arm,
and jumped to another level.

'course, I might have just dreamed it...

Never thought about it but i don,t think i have had pool dreams either. That is kinda strange as much as i play and gamble on the game.dream about everything else though .

For sure, I am going to ask my shrink about this. :D

One pocket and three-cushion billiards would wake me at four AM....
...I would dream about a layout.
If there was a 24 hour room in the area Iwould go and try it out....
...then come back to bed,

I was hard to live with

Was?

Amazing. I read this thread by Joey A and sat at my keyboard for quite a while trying to remember if I ever did dream about pool and can't even to now recall one single dream about pool.

The amazing thing is that I've been around pool for most of my life and can't remember one single dream. I can recall dreams about so many things but not this. Why is that?

Because in playing pool, one has control over one's "universe" and this emotional appeal is so satisfying that no dreaming about it is necessary to stay sane. It's all good. ( This assumes that dreams are the wastebasket of the mind.)

Ya got me-

In my sleep, I never dream about playing pool.

You would think that as much as I have been around pool I would have had a dream or a nightmare about pool by this time.

Just wonderings if any of you have had any dreams about playing pool? (Not day-time dreams- I've had those :-) )

JoeyA

Hi Joey,

I've had dreams about jobs I've had-
Like selling shoes in life and in my dream.
Scenes from working, but never of playing pool.
Maybe, because I live pool.

Joey, Frank...unlike you guys, it's just the opposite for me = for the past 20-30 years or so, approx. 2 out of every 3 dreams that I can remember after waking up are about playing pool - so I've had dozens and dozens of them...and there are variations of three story lines that the dreams most always consist of:

1. I'm at a large tournament either before it starts, during the tournament, or after it just ended...usually walking/looking around, or heading for my table and my match.

2. I'm in a game playing against somebody.

3. I'm at a new/strange poolroom and I'm trying to find a game/action.

And the 4th dream that I've had, a few times, would qualify as what in the dream study world is called - an anxiety dream...in this dream my cue (my favorite cue) is missing and I can't find it :(...I'm frantically looking for it - behind the counter of a pool hall, at the table where I was playing recently, in my car, etc...needless to say, I'm always super-glad when I wake up from this dream...

Joey, it's interesting that you started this thread, because for years I always meant to start the same thread but never got around to doing it.

Two or three times a year I have the nightmare where I'm at a tournament and someone has stolen my cue.

I've mentioned this to other guys and this seems to be a recurring theme amongst many players.

Ha ha, now I do remember dreaming about my car being stolen and the only thing that I was concerned with was that my cue went with it. I didn't care about the car. Felt good after waking and realized it was just a dream. Same as Lou said.

Actually, I do remember Buddy saying that but I think it was his bridge.

I looked in my pool case when I got to another pool hall that I don't normally frequent and found that my most valuable cue was missing from my case. It was a day time nightmare. Luckily, it was still leaning against the wall where I was previously playing. 30 minutes later and the nightmare came to an end.

Glad to hear that somebody dreams about pool.

Frank, the funny thing is that when I've talked to guys about it they all say the same thing: it was a terrifying, very realistic dream and the sense of relief -- that it was just a dream -- is almost overwhelming.
