Cushions for Brunswick Alexandria

I have my Alexandria 5 x10 apart (see earlier threads) and the rails off .Looking at the rails they match the frame with #80358 marked on them. The cushions are imprinted with "Super Speed" There is also large yellow letters "DDDV" Marked on 4 of the cushions. The cushions are 58-60" long x 6 . The rubber is Cranberry red in color, darkening in color in various spots. Dimension height is 1.260 x 1.125 on the cushion itself.

I talked to a gentleman that sells Brunswick, Artemis, Klematch and he said Brunswick no longer makes rubber sized for a 5 x 10 . Klematch & Artemis do. He thought the k55 profile would work if dimensions were verified.

How can I tell if these cushions are original and would you replace them as it's all unassembled?

The cushions are still soft rubber in areas is there any product the invigorates rubber? Otherwise the cushion set will run me $450+.

Thanks,
Gary

If your3 not looking to change the size of the pockets, they there's really no need to change the cushion.

Anything that is used to clean the cushions without damaging the rubber? thanks

Btw I was told the last time Brunswick made these for a 10x5 was in 1947....

Who ever told you that didn't know what they were talking about, Brunswick offered 5' x10's until at least 1974.

Here is an image of 2 of the rails and the rubber cushions . Any comments would be welcome.

That's a snooker table, is that what you're planning on doing, using it as a snooker table or are you wanting get to turn it onto a pocket pool table?

Hey Cobra it already (was) has .Here it is before I had to move it.Those are snooker rails? Tell me what else you see.

Here is the table in it's original space before moving been there since 1991.

Well, first off snooker rails don't use Diamonds tike what's on those rails, they only have one sight per rail. Then, it don't look like those sights don't look spaced right to the center pocket, the side rails look like they're centered on the rails.....measure the center sight on a side rail, it should be closer to the side pocket instead of the corner pocket.

Looks like the rails are mixed up too, that side.pocket looks like the right side of the pocket goes to a corner pocket while the left side looks right.

It's closer to the side pocket . Do you think it was a snooker table converted to a pocket billiards table? If so why?

Thanks,
Gary

Well, if as you said the numbers on the rails match the numbers on the frame, then I'd say it was a pool table converted to snooker, and not the other way around. Those are pool table rails that have been converted to snooker.

Also, that picture described as a 6x12 snooker is actually a billiard table.

Ok enlighten me what makes a snooker rail vs a pool rail? In my picture of the rails how could you tell they were converted. Sorry for being dense.

Is it the cushion profile that is for a snooker table. ?

I found this explanation...

Regulation Snooker Table Rail Cushions and Pocket Openings
British-style pool table or regulation snooker pocket openings have a rounded profile pocket opening. The pocket openings are smaller and the table is slightly more challenging to play on. The corner pocket mouth is 3 3/8” to 3 5/8” and the side pocket mouth is 4 1/16” to 4 5/16”. This style is good for players that would enjoy playing snooker as well as pool on their 7’, 8’ or 9’ pool table. This is the standard table style for 10’ and 12’ tournament snooker tables. The cushion rubber used on a snooker table is an “L” shaped rubber with a cushion nose that has a 3/8” tall flat surface. The balls used on a tournament pool table should be 2 1/16” diameter.

Regulation Pool Table Rail Cushions and Pocket Openings
American-style BCA regulation pool table pocket openings have wide straight-cut openings. This is the standard pool table style for tournament 8-ball & 9-ball. Pocket openings are measured from tip to tip of the opposite cushion rubber noses where direction changes into the pocket. This is called the mouth. The corner pocket mouth is 4 7/8” to 5 1/8” and the side pocket mouth is 5 3/8” to 5 5/8”. The cushion rubber used on a tournament pool table is a V-shaped cushion rubber; the point of the “V” is the tip of the cushion nose. The balls used on a tournament pool table should be 2 ¼” diameter.

My guess is the owner wanted more of a challenge using the smaller opening. I'll check the pockets when it's back together.Cushions are 1.250 x 1.1875 .

Billiard table converted to a snooker table, only the sights were already inlaid for billiard rails, snooker rails only have one sight per rail.

Further more, super speed cushions were not even invented at the time this table was built.

I checked the pockets they are all original to the table and they are snooker dimension opening. Corners are 3.375 & Sides are 4.125 roughly.

Could this have been a Combination table ? All the rails are matching numbers to the frame. Somewhere are the Snooker rails .

Those are billiard rails cut down to be snooker rails....guaranteed 100%

Let's me see some pictures of the pocket shelf cut outs in the slates, bottom side as well.

Alexandria Billiard table 6x12

This table has never been a pocket pool table as pocket pool would have had bigger pocket castings that what are on this table as well as bigger ball baskets.

That table was only available as a snooker table or a billiard table, but could be bought as a combination table as well....the combination being either snooker or billiards, by changing the rails from one to the other, but the slates would have had to have had the pockets cut out in them in the first place to begin with.
