Here are some stats from the double- and single-elimination portions of the 2016 World 14.1 Tournament played September 8-11 at Steinway Billiards in Queens, NY. These were the 12 matches streamed by AZBtv on the main streaming table, and they represented 30.8% of the total of 39 matches played in those two portions of the event. Note that the first four matches (double-elimination, Thurs.) were played to 150 points, the next 7 matches (single-elimination on Friday and Saturday) were played to 200 points, and the final match (Sunday) was played to 300 points.

For similar information on the 17 streamed matches in the round-robin portion of the event, see this thread: http://forums.azbilliards.com/showthread.php?t=434949

The conditions for this event include:
- Thurs., Sept. 8 -- Brunswick Gold Crown 9-foot table with generous pockets and blue Andy cloth;
- Fri., Sept. 9 -- Rasson 9-foot table with 4 1/2" corner pockets and 4 3/8" side pockets (!!!) and blue Andy cloth;
- triangle rack;
- fouls on all balls;
- lag for opening break.

Attempted Scoring Innings means the player's total number of innings for the game minus the number of innings that he played only a safety or an intentional foul (no attempt to score a point).

PPI is Points per Inning based on the total number of innings in the game for that player. [Note: I am calling this measure Points per Inning rather than Balls per Inning to be a bit more precise in the definition, since the number of points a player is credited with in a game can be quite different from the number of balls he pocketed.]

PPASI is Points per Attempted Scoring Inning, i.e., points per inning based on the number of Attempted Scoring Innings in the game for that player.

Matches numbered 1-4 here were played on Thursday, Sept. 8; Matches 5-7 on Friday, Sept. 9; Matches 8-11 on Saturday, Sept.10; and Match 12 on Sunday, Sept. 11.

Mika Immonen beat Earl Strickland 300 - 270 in the final match of the 2016 World 14.1 event this afternoon. Here is how the game went, inning by inning.
[Note: My attention was diverted a couple of times during this match. But my scores add up, so I think this is reasonably accurate.]

Scores in brackets are for Strickland (S) first (since he shot the opening break), then Immonen (I). References to "left" and "right" sides of the table are as the player looks from the head of the table to the foot.

S1 (Strickland's inning #1) -- opening safety break from right side, leaving a ball out.
I1 -- missed a combo on the 15-ball near the top of the rack.

S2 -- ran 14, then missed the break shot on the 8-ball to the right side of the rack. [14 - 0]
I2 -- ran 15, then played safe. [14 - 15]

S3 -- fouled (no rail) playing a safe into the top of the rack. [13 - 15]
I3 -- intentional foul to the head of the table. [13 - 14]

S4 -- safe
I4 -- fouled on a safety, missing the edge of the object ball. [13 - 13]

S5 -- ran 10, then fouled getting no rail on a safety. [22 - 13]
I5 -- safe, left a shot.

S6 -- ran 31, then missed break shot on the 6-ball to the right side of the rack. [53 - 13]
I6 -- ran 48, then missed a cross-side bank on the 2-ball. [53 - 61]

S7 -- missed an easy shot on the 11-ball.
I7 -- ran 23, got stuck on the left side of the rack and played an intentional foul. [53 - 83]

S8 -- intentional foul. [52 - 83]
I8 -- missed the 4-ball to the left foot-rail pocket using the bridge.

S9 -- ran 16, then missed the 10-ball to the right foot-rail pocket from the left long rail. [68 - 83]
I9 -- ran 52 (his high run), then missed an easy 2- or 4-ball (skid likely). [68 - 135]

S10 -- ran 12, then missed a long shot on the 14-ball. [80 - 135]
I10 -- ran 4, played safe. [80 - 139]

S11 -- missed the 14-ball to the left side pocket.
I11 -- ran 42, then fouled by missing the 4-ball and driving it off the table. [80 - 180]

-- intermission --

S12 -- ran 57, then missed the 4-ball to the left side pocket. [137 - 180]
I12 -- ran 20, then fouled shooting from the head rail and making no contact on the intended 6-ball in front of the right side pocket. [137 - 199]

S13 -- ran 61 (his high run), then fouled missing the 10-ball (skid?) and caught the cue ball as it went into the right side pocket (15-pt deliberate foul). [182 - 199]
I13 -- ran 15, then missed the break shot (9-ball to left of rack, cue ball on left rail). [182 - 214]

S14 -- ran 32, then missed a sharp cut on the 7-ball to the right foot-rail pocket from above it. [ 214 - 214]

S15 -- safe; S16 -- safe; S17 -- int. foul; S18 -- int. foul; S19 -- safe; S20 -- safe; S21 -- safe; S22 -- safe.

Thanx, AtLarge.....I will re-examine the figures later.

It is said that the worst thing you can do at 14.1 is to miss a break shot.
Earl did that at the start and the finish....I feel it made the difference.

Yup. Earl also missed another one (in his 6th inning) and Mika missed one (in his 13th inning.)

Good job, Atlarge
One minor thing - Shouldnt score for Earl-Jayson be 189-184 (Jayson Forfeit)
I didnt watch whole match but What I am more interested to know is since you really watch whole match in detail -would Earl have easily run out another 11 points (there were -3 remaining points on table I think) or did Jayson forfeit still have a good chance if he had not forfeited ?
Thanks :)

The score was 189-184 at the completion of the previous rack. Earl then made the break ball for that last rack. That took the score to 190-184. That additional point just had not been marked up yet.

Then Earl took the infamous shot on the 10-ball. Once John Leyman made his decision and declared that Earl's shot was good, the score was actually 191-184. Jayson then immediately walked over to Earl to shake his hand in concession. At that point the match was over, and I view it as Jayson conceding the last 9 points to take the final score to 200-184. [Dragon Promotions' final single-elimination chart has it 200-187, a mistake.]

Thirteen object balls were on the table after the 10-ball was made. Although all but 2 or 3 of them were still on the foot half of the table, they were fairly well distributed and the cue ball was in the clear with shots on many of them. Any good player would run 9 more balls from that position a high percentage of the time. But with Earl riled up from the dispute, who knows.

Does anybody have the payouts for this 5-day event? I know 2nd place paid $4,000. I would like to see the rest of the payouts. I wish it was on the News page.

Maybe it is and I missed it. :o

I haven't seen it yet, but it won't be long. Here's what they were last year: http://www.azbilliards.com/tours_an...t/6723-the-world-141-tournament-2015/results/

And here's a post showing what the total purses were for each of the first 10 years of the event: http://forums.azbilliards.com/showpost.php?p=5661509&postcount=32
