Shangai Masters Final

Will be a rematch of this year's World Championship between Ding Junhui and world #1 Mark Selby.

Best of 19 frames. 1st session at 2am ET. 2nd session at 7:30am

My prediction:

Ding wins it 10-7

Why do you refer the match to best of 19 frames, when it's a race to 10 wins for the match, you make it sound like 19 games have to be played to determine the winner.

Same reason you don't say a straight pool match is a race to x.

Or you don't hear people say the NBA finals are a race to 4.

But the straight pool match IS to X number of points be it 125, 150, 300....what ever, and the NBA finals are a race to which teams wins 4 games first wins the championship which means it's not the best out of 7 if they win the first 4 games....but you can look at it that way if you want.

You're a smart guy, but you're really overthinking this.

Get some rest. First session starts in 2.5 hours.

Awesome , thanks for heads up. I agree that Ding should win this but Selby is the MasterGrinder and not easy to fade

"Best of" is more commonly used in most sports (eg. in tennis best of 5 sets, in test cricket best of 5) than "race to" even though "race to" is easier to understand
Also while most knock out elimination matches do not require all games be played , but if it is group or round robin stage, all games eg. If it is best of 19 then all 19 have to be played as number of games won /lost are used to determine seeding and who qualifies for next round :)

Yes this Jester not giving up, a real hardcore grinder
I think he needs 3 fouls and he already won 2 fouls

lol
Selby commits 2 fouls himself so back to square one and he concedes
Ding wins 10-6 final rack 68-28

Race to ten or best of nineteen are synonyms.
The snooker world traditionally uses the 'best of' term.
Neither are wrong.

Canadians uses both terms, even at snooker.
