Any videos of the "old" 2-foul 9-ball?

.Best way to get your head around it is to go to the poolroom and play it. It's much better than 1 foul. Almost no safeties, spot shots to shoot, pushing out to banks and tough cuts, using your brain as well as your game to win. When you get hooked you pushout, not kick at a ball for your money.
Edit; Forgot to mention one of the best things about it; There is no 3 foul-loss-of-game. You cannot foul 3 times in a row because after the 2nd foul fouls are reset to 0 for both players (if playing "any-two fouls").
You can play it by several different rule sets to suit your preferences.

Buddy Hall is also a big fan of 2-foul pushout. It might be this was the game when Buddy was the best in US at 9 ball.

They would push out to jump shots.
Bankers push out to banks.
James Christopher was great at thin cuts...he would push to where you couldn't bank.

Now that you mention it, I haven't seen CJ around here in quite a while.
The other problem I've run into is that no one has a printed version of the old "Rules of 9-ball." Whenever I've asked about in the past, people have offered 1-3 sentence "rules" that aren't a comprehensive set of rules. Certainly they printed rules in the old days, but no one seems to have them.

Remember that 9 ball is mostly a gambling game and gamblers make rules that aren't usually written down. They also adapt to suit the players.
If you want the several different varieties of rules I will PM them to you but I won't post them here.
It will not be 1-3 sentences and you can clarify any questions just by asking.

It was illegal to jump balls in 2 foul pushout. Jumping balls was illegal since billiards was invented. Burn all jump cues!
It wasn't illegal when i played roll out...you could jump all you wanted.
...it was the specialist cues that changed the whole situation.
I've played in tournaments and gambling matches where you had to jump with your playing cue.

This video is from the Country Calvin classic they had a few years ago they played this event using the old school rules.
Not many videos out there with two foul rules, this is one of the only ones i could find you can tell CJ and Kevin are not used to playing these rules more than once they get confused.

Players make whatever rules they want when playing. Jumping balls was not illegal in Detroit or anywhere that I've ever heard of. In certain locales maybe that was the rule but it would not be an all-encompassing rule around the country.
The only game that banned jumping balls to my knowledge is Snooker.

While I don't know of any videos, when this was popular there just weren't many videos of matches, I and several others have posted the rules in discussions several times. The rules seem to vary depending on where you were playing, NE, W, SE, etc. Mostly seemed to be whether it was two fouls ball in hand by the same player or any two fouls in a row. I didn't hear of two fouls by the same player for years and played any two until TE reared it's ugly head.
