Let's Make Sure There's a One Pocket Hall of Fame Dinner This Year @ DCC!!

My two cents - I love One Pocket, by far the most creative pool game there is. I tried posting on onepocket.org and offered my opinion on several threads, including WWYD. I found myself getting spoken down to by the more established site members who essentially treated my observations with disdain. It was more than a little disheartening and caused me to finally quit posting there. It felt to me like if you weren't in the elite clique, then what you had to say was not relevant and had no value.

Too bad because I'm not a guy in a diner when it comes to One Pocket, having the good fortune to have played with and watched the best players of the last 50 years.

I also supported Steve's dinner for years and enjoyed every minute of it. It's too bad that it hasn't worked out better for Steve, but maybe his core group of supporters could come through for him. Freddie was one of my closest friends in pool for over forty years (more like 45), and he always called me Jaybird. He was one of the most intelligent men in the game and truly loved it with all the warts and weirdos that inhabited our little world. I could relate to that since I also cherish my memories around all the hustlers and outlaws I have encountered in the pool world. They weren't all good memories but they made a better man out of me.

Good luck to Steve in his endeavors and maybe I'll try my imitation of Fats one more time.

Your experience is your own and I can't question how you see it. I can say that I am far from anyone's definition of elite and I've never felt like my input was denigrated or unappreciated.

Also, what's with mocking the WWYDs (by others, not in Jay's post)? They're a fraction, albeit significant, of the posts (but less than a majority of threads) there. For lots of people, they're fun and help open your eyes up to new shots.

WWYDs are basically similar content to Winning One Pocket and that sells for a few hundred bucks -- if you're lucky.

Cory

P.S. I don't think I've ever seen Jay be rude or condescending and I think it would be great for him to post at op.org.

Maybe after a few people got into the One Pocket HOF that shouldn't be there - Steve decided to give it a rest til the voting committee comes to their senses.

Please notice watchez, I did stipulate "Knowledgeable" pool people!..That could explain why you were never able to 'blend in' well over there! :o

PS..But I guess it must be hard for you, to spread your unique brand of 'negativity', on every available pool site! :sorry:

MR Dick; from what I’ve read here and over there from members of both, you never posted any knowledgeable information about the actual playing of the game at 1 pocket org. Also, it seems that it is much calmer over there and more to the business of instructing, informing and promoting since you and a couple others have been banned.

Thank you Steve and everyone who contributes to keep this going.

Now I have to go play some one pocket and get ready to kick some ass in Houston next week.

There are only 2 over there complaining and knocking = SJD and Lou Figueroa. What a surprise right????

Thank you -- it is a good group of people. It's amazing how the tenor of a forum can improve by removing only a couple of sh** stirrers.

Well I guess now we have heard from all three of the only three regular posters that I felt like I have had to eventually remove in order to maintain a degree of civility over there in over ten years lol. Of course, none of it was ever their fault

As for the dinner, I welcome any and all doers, helpers and supporters in reshaping the dinner fir the future.

Me email is steve at onepocket dot org or PM for my cell phone.

Thanks for all of you who have supported the HOF over the years and who would/will in the future.

Lou, you're a writer -- are you seriously trying to say we weren't supposed to take the word lousy like some of us did? Then you stink as a writer.

At your age and health issues, I would just think you would have much better ways to spend your golden years, with family and friends, instead hours on end arguing and bashing people that do so much like Steve Booth, his site and members that are still members there. It just makes you come off as a bitter, depressed player of the past, that can’t accept the realities of growing old, which we all have to face eventually!
Obviously, this is just what I read in print and my opinion.

Respectfully;

That's special coming from someone whose sole existence is based on people not being able to remember what actually happened in the past.

For lots of people, they're fun and help open your eyes up to new shots.<--That would depend strictly on your level of play!..Most WWYD's, are presented and argued over incessantly by 'C' players..Its easy to see, why the few knowledgeable participants, like Jay or Tom Wirth, are easily discouraged, and move on! :sorry:

WWYDs are basically similar in content to Winning One Pocket... <--Sorry, not even close!

Cory

Cory, I see the huge difference as being, Eddie Robin is a very competent pool author, who also took the time to enlist the input of many top level players, in his 1P bible!..The difference between him, and the amateurish WWYD's presented here, and on 1P.org, is night and day!

PS..It would be much like comparing watchez, to Einstein! (or even Cocobola Cowboy) Both are way out of his league.:D

Thank you for your concern Mr.Shayne..But I do spend most of my time, with family and friends!..Also, I am neither bitter, nor depressed!..My sometimes unpopular opinions are based on reality..Many people concur with my findings, but those who don't, will usually express their displeasure, as you have!..What you describe as "bashing", I call trying to wake people up to 'reality'!..For some folks, (think Watchez) this is not possible!..Sorry if this offends you!.

Not to mention that when Eddie Robin started posting again on 1P.org he was relentlessly attacked by Freddy and Mrs3 IQ.

They were not reigned in by anyone but Eddie never responded in kind, he responded civilly and with class as I remember it.

While we're at it Bill Stroud (who I know is not a favorite here) was also relentlessly attacked by Artie Bodendorfer until I started a thread pointing it out and then a few others chimed in.

Nobody in management reigned Artie in either.

To set the record a little straighter on the 3 regular posters who were banned from 1p org forum:

1. Cowboy Dennis - a good contributor at 1p org a lot of the time but a massive hater at other times reached a point of critical mass when he attacked Billy Incardona with a very hateful message. Billy drew a line in the sand either he was done or Cowboy went. Since Cowboy had a history of hating and Billy was a very well liked poster = Cowboy got booted off the island. (My guess is he would be welcomed back if he could get over whatever causes him to go off on people the way he would because a lot of people liked him and his contributions).

2. SJDinPhx - in 1 pocket Hall of Fame. Very knowledgeable one pocket player who would occasionally post very worthwhile information or stories. Most of the time spent hating. Was reduced to a separate section for Members Only where about his last 1,000 posts were to attack another poster who was reduced to Members Only (Mr3cushion). No matter what Mr3cushion posted SJD would attack. His obsession with pointing out everything wrong with this poster relentlessly and adding pretty much nothing else led to his ban.

3. Lou Figueroa - Occasionally interesting and informative posts, a good contributor on some occasions. Mostly into bashing, knocking and making nothing of people and their posts. Reached a point of critical mass in one of the most viewed and most posted threads ever on one pocket org (it was a sub thread because Lou had derailed the original thread). He bashed Billy Incardona, attacked Tom Wirth (one of the nicest guys and a one pocket author), attacked and bashed about 15 other posters, knocked the threads others like to post in and after his rampage which was the last straw in a long history of hating and knocking = he was finally gone. (This only covers the last portion of his history of hating, attacking and knocking).

If Cowboy Dennis and SJD came to their senses regarding their negative posting behavior and a vote was taken at 1 pocket org I do believe they would be welcomed back.

With Lou he has one close friend who would welcome him back and 1 poster
who could never believe anything bad about Lou (one poster commented that if he was a friend of Jeffrey Dahmer he would think Jeffrey just had an eating problem). Other than these 2 I don't know of anyone who misses Lou or would want him back.

Finally, good to see a few sensible posts from you!..Only the hard core regulars on 1P.org, were aware of those 'goings on'!..And except for you, very few commented on the obvious unfairness of it all!..Artie and Freddy reigned supreme (unchecked) over there, until they got into a 'name calling' contest..Freddy went into an extended 'pout', and Artie quit posting..Thus still no clear winner! (and who cared)..Freddy went back to his full time bragging, and 'beat list' promoting!
(with an occasional rap on the knuckles, from yours truly! :p

Artie was unbearable with his endless lengthy dissertations, on how to play perfect "mistake free one pocket"..But some of the members lapped it up, so I guess that may be why Steve let him go crazy!..I am of the opinion, that Booth gave them both way too much undeserved leeway, and let things get completely out of his control!..I don't think the site has ever fully recovered, from that decision! :frown:

1. Lots of very strong, accomplished players and champions post on the WWYDs. Billy, Tom, Rob, Jerry/Huey, sometimes Brumback, and others. But also, Hendy now and then, Sparks, Ghost (though not lately), JTom, and many others I hope to not insult by leaving off the list. And lots of B players too. Not that many C players, though definitions are somewhat arbitrary.

2. Part of what's nice about the mix of skills in the WWYD, something you don't really get from Robin's book, is the perspective on better/worse shots based on different skill levels of the shooter and the opponent.

3. If only champions bought Robin's book, his market would be very small. His target audience, and the audience for Tom-Tom's book, and the 1p.org audience, should and do span all levels of skill.

Back to the subject, hopefully you and Jay can make the 2018 DCC One Pocket dinner!

Wayne,

You must be one the dumbest humans ever on this Earth if you think I would ever want to post there again. I do not.

BI completely ignored his "40 year long friend's" dying wish not to tell anyone that he had cancer and was dying. All he could think of was being "first" and starting a thread about it. He violated his dying friend's last request of him. All of the creeps who thanked BI for the thread have been breathing poolroom air too long and no longer have any sense of morals or right & wrong. Think about it Wayne; They thanked him for violating his good friend's dying wish of him. Anyone that heard Freddy on the phone knew how messed up he was on painkillers (I would guess) but nobody else violated Freddy's privacy except BI and he's celebrated for it.

P.S. After my last post over there I completely deleted all reference to that site from my computer. I have no knowledge of anything that's happened over there since. I hear I'm "suspended" from posting there but I will never know as I suspended them first.

You must be a clown to think that I would subject it to a vote anyway.

Thanks Cory, maybe Jay will make it!..I would give a major body organ, to be able to attend, but my travellng days are long over!..Ten minutes, standing in an airport waiting line, would be the end of my sorry ass!

Rob Melrose aka: onepockethacker attacked (for no real reason) Freddy Bentivegna, One Pocket Ghost, SJD and me from his 1st post on. He went back and deleted many of them so you cannot see the ones that weren't quoted but it doesn't change what he wrote.

For you to point him out as anyone worthy of posting over there is a joke. He should've been banned after 30 days of posting there and if you ever looked it up he issued an apology to Freddy after BI interceded on Freddy's behalf. He also backed off on Ghosty after awhile.

I could show you the e-mail that Freddy sent to Booth telling Booth that Hacker had to go but I never violate privacy even after the person has passed on.

Wayne, you have somehow chosen to ignore the reasons for my 'attacks' on Mr3-IQ!..His every post, was filled with profanity laced innuendos, and outright lies, about my character and morals!..My good friends, like Billy I., Jay Helfert and many others, came to my defense..Mr3-IQ ignored them all!..You are right about one thing, it did lead to my being banned..but it was well worth it, being able to expose him for the sorry excuse for a human being, he has always been!

i have not read thru this thread
forgive me
but if you want a hall of fame dinner in 2018 send your money to steve booth at onepocket.org
i am sure if you pm him he will let you know how to send money
if you dont send money to support it
then you have no validation to criticizes if it does not happen
then you are a nit who just wants to hate

It would be pretty dumb of me to think you would want to post there. Of course I never said that. I would be a clown if I thought you would subject it to a vote, of course I never suggested you should do that.

I knew Freddie was dying before Billy posted it on the forum or his daughter posted it on Facebook. The fact you attacked Billy 2 years after the fact was really strange.

I would have been attacked even more if I had attacked BI at the time (in 2014) for violating his friend's trust. Out of respect for Freddy, who I liked quite a bit, I kept silent for 2 years so as not to distract from Freddy's illness.

Tell me which was the worse offense; him breaking Freddy's trust or me pointing it out.

P.S. More than one person knew how bad Freddy was without starting a thread about it in direct contradiction to Freddy's wishes.

I am so disappointed in you. I spelled "reined" incorrectly in two consecutive posts and you didn't notice it.

P.S. Turn your T.V. down and stop telling me my phone is breaking up you moron.
