I think he's using "China" as short for "Republic of China," which is Taiwan.

Well not trying to get too political but Chinese Taipei is officially known as Republic of China, so I guess you can still shorthand it to China.
ROC (Republic of China) works for me....also Taiwan.Agreed, also like to add Taipei is not a country, it's a city in Taiwan so I don't know why they want to refer themselves as Chinese Taipei in the first place..I think it originated from some sort of team event where the players represented the city of Taipei.
