Shane vs Dennis

Dennis is one of the best players ever & Shane absolutely owns his a$$. What does that say about our 5X US Open Champ?
 
i remember when shane torched dennis 11-1 in 2014 W9B quarters, then beat Ko Ping Chung 11-1 in the semis. Nevertheless, both great players.

Could Mike from fargo provide scores between these 2 for the last few yrs?

A while back somone had listed it. With scores, 8/9/10b and table size.

Better question is, what's that say about Dennis....?

If this was Alex, and he was being constantly man-handled, he would seek Shane out at every opportunity,until he fixed it. I don't see Dennis doing anything, but ducking. He needs to get his head straight. Once that train starts rollin.......

Here is what we have. I don't have game or table size listed here, and the steinway match is not in yet...

You can see that Shane holds a slight edge over Dennis, but I wouldn't say he owns him!! Either way, it's a good rivalry.

Thx for the data. I see the TAR matches are not here. SVB has the edge but it's not like DO can't defend himself. Borg didn't always beat McEnroe.

Well lifetime racks 166 -150 show slight edge 53% 47%
Lifetime matches show biggest win% for Shane 57% 43%

But more relevant is to look at recent years
In past 3 years, Shane has won 9 matches while Dennis only won 2
That is huge win% for Shane 82% to 18%
In fact Dennis only beat Shane twice earlier this year at Duluth and rest of time for last 3 years he did not beat Shane

I believe Darren also has similar big Head to Head record over Shane over past few years. I think 2 years ago, it was 9 to 3 but it must have narrowed . Shane just beat Darren yesterday

Some players just have disproportionate win loss record over certain players same as in other sports :smile:

His head is on straight.... He's ducking him. If he were to chase him around he'd be a crazy man. I think Dennis plays as good as Shane but once you factor in the break it's no longer a fair fight. IMO they are two of the best players ever to play the game.

The simple fact is that these guys are good enough to beat each other anytime they chalk their cue up. At their level, one or two rolls can make a huge difference in a score line. Another huge difference is Shane's break. If his break is on, he's almost unbeatable...by anyone!!
 
Shane has dominated Dennis in recent big matches including 9ball world championship. It is hard to believe that a world class player like Dennis can break down psychologically and crack under pressure consistently when facing Shane.
Whenever they meet, the result is virtually a forgone conclusion especially in later stages of a tournament.
