. Giving someone the last 3 (in 9 or 10 ball) just means that if they make one of the very last 3 balls on the table (in a legal shot), then they win the game.
I gamble even less than that, but I'd be curious about the consensus on this issue. I mean the 7,8,9 allows you to make early combinations for the victory, but also means that your "extra" money balls can be made early by your opponent. Which one is better in the long run?
Does it depend on the players involved (say if the player getting the spot is good a combos and caroms)?
Sweet! Then I can shoot at any of the last three to win? IN! who wants the give me the "last three"?
Very good.
I'd give you a greenie, but the Universe might explode if I do.
Yes... if they make the 7 then they automatically win that game as long as they don't scratch or commit any other fouls and they also pocket 6 more balls on that same shot.

I thought Atlarge explained it well enough.
Don't forget that the 7 or 8 ball can also be pocketed on the break for the win, if giving up the 7 out (7 and 8). That is 3 wild money balls flying around (with 6 pockets to choose from), which is pretty scary in my mind. I would much rather be giving up the last 3 and the breaks (then the wild 7 out).

Lol, very funny.
I will give anyone who still does not understand (what the last 3, playing 9 or 10 ball means) the straw spot (where you may place the cue ball within a straws length, in any direction, on every shot).
I can't believe this is going on this long and that some people still don't get it.
Where have you been. We knew this within two days of the first time we stepped
in a pool hall, JESUS CHRIST. THE NINE AND WHATEVER THE OTHER TWO
BALLS ON THE TABLE ARE, ARE WINNERS FOR THE GUY GETTING THE SPOT
MUST HIT LOWEST NUMBERED BALL FIRST. When you play 2 foul the guy getting
the spot should make sure balls spot up on a bad hit from guy giving the spot. This keeps
him from pocketing one of your winning balls and it be just a roll out. This comes in to
play more when the spot are numbered balls. If you give someone the 7 you could just
pocket the 8 on a roll out and now he really only has the 8 which is less than the 7.
But even with the last 3, if there are the 9 and the other 2 left he could pocket the
higher numbered one on a bad hit and it would just be a roll out. We did this all the
time and suckers never questioned it. But we felt terrible about doing it.

I figured everyone would know that you have to pocket the 1 to 4 in order then the 5-6-9 are the money balls.
I did not think out my first answer very well. So to sum up
It's the last f##king 3 balls on the table but you must still shoot them in numerical order.
