Quick bar table question

Was playing locally the other night.
The openings of the side pockets of
were smaller than the corners.
I checked with 2 balls.
It wasn't the beer lol.
Think this was the first time I saw this.

Valley "Bar Boxes" are know for generous corner pockets and stingy side pockets. Bar box runout patterns are best built around the corners for this reason. Check out R. Givens book "The Eight Ball Bible". He touches on this subject and many others that have to do with bar box play exclusively.

The side pockets on a valley BB are that size for a design reasons. In order to make the side pockets bigger the cabinet size has to be enlarged/more cost to produce.
