Mosconi Cup table pockets look over 4.5"

They look like they are cut for bar table use, along with new cloth there is likely not to be too many missed shots.

This table is ridiculous. Playing so easy. Not saying it favors or as helped one more than the other. Just hate to see world class players being able to make balls that wouldn't go on most tables in most pool halls.

These pockets, I'd guess, are 4 3/4" and with new cloth, they play looser.

That said, there was no shortage of misses on day one.

Even a fairly snug table plays pretty easy with new Simonis. Folks, they're not playing snooker and the crowd wants to see balls made. Gotta realize this is a made-4-tv exhibition. I've seen both sides dog some pretty easy shots.

It's not the pockets - it's the lack of a shelf. When they use the overhead camera, the center of the shelves of these pockets practically come out to the points. This makes it almost impossible to rattle a ball in the pocket.

Seems kind of silly to have world class players play on a table like this for a much hyped competition. Sucks actually......

Agreed, an embarrassment.

Personally I'd like to see them a little less generous so the odd pressure shot is missed as that adds to the excitement.

If a guys played a bad shot, it's a bad shot, seems a shame to see it hit half way up the cushion and still drop.

Still good to watch though.

Yeah, I could not believe some of those shots that went in off of the rail, instead of clean. That would never happen on a Diamond with good rails.

Even if the pockets are big.... Does team USA wait for opponents misses to win a rack? Their break and safety game is not the same level so far. Lets see what will Day 2 brings..

Pockets are tight but the rubber is soft and it slides real bad, along with new cloth, lights, it plays really easy. But if your shooting a ball into pocket no rail they are pretty small.

A Diamond with new cloth and hot lights on it will play loose. New cloth helps the ball slide into the pocket. Even with "good rails".

They do have that short shelf too. Lots of balls that would hang on a Diamond don't have to make it as deep into the pocket to fall on these tables.

Thanks for the insight! Love hearing it direct from someone playing on it!

Also, good shooting yesterday!! You and Sky played well together and got us on the board!
