May be a stupid question, but I couldn't hear at work because I had to have volume off because I'm not really supposed to be watching but the last doubles match didn't happen today in the Mosconi Cup.

Is that because they feared that it won't go to day 4 if the European team won that match too?
 
Absolutely. The last thing MatchRoom wants to do is refund day 4 tickets. Barry Hearn is probably working his magic to ensure the Americans win at least one match tomorrow, in what could easily be another 4 match max. Be interesting to see what happens if the Euros win the first 3 tomorrow.

The tournament has had both an early end on day 2 and no day 4 before. That's a hazard with this format.
