The year the crowd drank York Hall dry!
That happened in 2002 as well!
The bar at Alexandra Palace is slightly better stocked!

Joey -- Do you think the crowds were quieter in the 1990s when the US dominated? That's not my recollection. I think you may have to look somewhere else for the explanation.
I'm not sure if the crowds were quieter in the 90's or not. I guess we would have to ask the players who competed during those times. I think the European fans have developed the hooting and hollering to an art form.
I'm not discounting that the European players have improved their rotational skills immensely.
I do think the 9 ball on the spot and the breaking rules helped turn the Mosconi Cup 9 ball event into a finesse event and the Europeans have capitalized on that.
Seriously, I'm not making excuses for the Americans, I'm just observing what the players are saying and what they are doing and what they are not doing.
Europe is the better Mosconi Cup Team for now. We'll see in the next year if the U.S. players have the resolve to turn this around.
Personally, I think Mark Wilson should inquire with each player as to why THEY think they are losing each year and then make that specific information public. I've talked with one of the U.S. Mosconi Cup players and he felt the crowd was the biggest factor in the U.S.'s performance.
I'm curious as how the rest of them think. Nothing like making your thoughts public and have you held accountable for them.

with the right guy running the show we will prevail again. ever hear of the Rider cup.. ladies and gentleman we do have the talent. Think we need 5 qualifiers by section of country and players must call one of the five regions home. the captain will have two captains picks.. lets make it feel like the players really do want to represent our country, and not about making a check
I think the players are mind ****ed. And to add to that, I don't personally think the best us team is out there. There's a us open champ that's not on the team, and I'm sure he doesn't play because, well, why the hell would he to be honest. You gotta make it so the best players want to show up. The Europeans play good, but for me it's like who cares. Really. I'd be much more impressed with any one of those European guys coming over here and matching up big and winning. id personally love to see the mosconi cup results, I know this will never happen, if each match won the winning players got like 10 grand. until the matches are played for something that really matters I think it's all just a circus. I mean who gives a ****. Give them some real incentive and I guarantee you at the very least mosconi cups would be toss ups thereafter. You'd have the best team showing up, and players psyches would be in good standing because they'd actually be playing for something of meaning.
