15 Ball (Rotation) or 9 and 10 Ball Changes Needed

I don't think any games need "overhauling". Play them as they are or find a different sport that suits you instead of trying to change something to suit you.

If you feel that way you've gotta answer why they are constantly changing the rules in successful sports like golf then. People don't know it but the rules in golf are actually quite dynamic. You can google it and see the changes taken place each year.

I believe we have to have this same mindset in pool. Guys I mean cmon people made these rules just sitting around drinking a bear or something, it wasn't like the men writing the the constitution or anything. There weren't extensive talks about why we should do this or that. Why would you confine yourself to sticking to a set of rules like that?

There are a lot of changes that would be great for one pocket, but you got all these older aficionados that think like you, and to be honest it holds the game back. People say things like "but I can't jump the hanger off the table if you do that" lol. Guys these are not good arguments. Not being rewarded for jumping two balls off the table and totally losing control is pretty much the epitome of why we do need rule changes.

Anyway, thanks for the opinion though I appreciate the discussion but just don't agree :)

You raise a very valid point here, look at all successful sports, they are constantly changing the rules.

I know these are probably a bit off the radar for most on this forum, but cricket, rugby and football (soccer) change certain rules almost every season and all 3 are reasonably popular on a global scale.

I'm not massively clued up on US sports, but I believe that the NFL tweaks rules all the time and I'd assume the same applies to the other mainstream US sports.

So why not pool (I'm not saying either way whether rules should or shouldn't be changed, merely that other sports do it and there is no reason not to, if for the greater good).

Sure. I mean when I grew up you would not even think about video review in baseball. They've changed that, good or bad, and are keeping up with the times.

Look, it's hard to be euphemistic, be we have a bunch of crabby old dudes that sorta control pool I'd say, and they are not open to change. That's bad make no mistake about it. Think of all the traditionalists through history, if we acquiesced to them all women would still be confined to staying at home and not voting... the examples could go on. The world is a better place when people are open to change, and same goes with sports. Unfortunately pool is one of the most resistant communities when it comes to change that I have ever seen. I mean it is klu klux klan level shit lol, seriously death before even any little change haha.

If you really wanna know how inept we are as a group look no further than the frozen or almost frozen cue ball to object ball "rule" in One pocket. I mean it is a total, absolute mess, one tournament to the next it changes and nobody knows what the hell is going on lol. And we need to keep these so called rules the same??

Snooker had exactly the same mindset until Barry Hearn took over.

Admittedly there haven't been significant (if any?) rule changes, but the way the tour is structured has completely changed.

Pool needs either THE Barry Hearn or someone who thinks along similar lines!
