I was just going on our qualifying schedule before I logged on and still have the sheet in front of mw. Here is our schedule.

Jan 13 th...8 ball tri cups. I have one team in it. Dropped off another team that is in it several weeks ago so I won't be here playing for them also. I have another team that is already qualified for 8 ball ltc. It's played at the rack....diamond barboxes.

Jan 27 th 9 ball tri cups. I have one team in this also. It's played at silver cue. Valleys where the owner apparently does not know what clean balls and new cloth means.

Feb 18th ..8 ball doubles qualifier for Vegas. Just finished up the session in 2 ND place and I have no idea how we are gonna fit the playoffs in . Hope we win playoffs. Played at high pockets where the owner takes very good care of the valleys.

Mar 11 th ...9 ball doubles qualifier for Vegas. We were in 1 st the last week so we should go straight to this without playoffs. I say should....several teams missed quite a few weeks for some reason or another and I guess my lo is letting them make them all up this week. Barring some come from behind miracle my team should still wind up in first. Played at silver cue again.:(

8 ball cities June 9th at hi pockets.

9 ball cities June 23 rd at the rack.

I also pls masters and for some reason that playoff schedule is not listed.

And now on to how I have been playing....inconsistent as hell ...aa usual.

Sunday double jeapordy 2 weeks ago. Faced a 6 in 9 ball and won 15-5

Monday double jeapordy....said I was gonna drop off this team but the captain talked me into playing the minimum 6 matches required to stay eligible.

Played a 3 in 8 ball and lost 2-0. Played the same guy 9 ball where he is a 4 and barely won 38-30.

Thursday 9 ball....i won vs a 4 by 16-4

Friday doubles.. Another bad night....worse than Monday . Lost 9 ball to a 4 by 17-3. Played the same 4 in 8 ball and lost 3-3

This past sunday double jeapordy. Won 9 ball vs a 4 by 16-4. Played a different 4 in 8 ball and won 4-2.

Damn son. You don't have time for a goldfish. Dont let pool consume you. I quit for ten years in my 20's because it was messing with my career. Night life is no bueno for doing both well.

Lol. I quit pool mostly for 30 years myself. Just played once in great while on a night out.

Now I am 62.....live alone....work about 6 hours a day and usually go in about 8;00 am.

Kids are all grown and scattered all over except for one son that lives next door.

I used to play a lot of sports in my younger days such as softball ...raquet ball and flag football. Too old for those types of activities so now I just play pool.
 
I had an unbelievable 9 ball match tonight. I faced a 4 . I won the lag and promptly put up a break and run .....unbelievable right? 5's are not supposed to make break and runs according to those in the know on this forum. But wait....that is not the unbelievable part

I lost 36-31 in a 38-31 race after starting off with a break and run.....thats unfrickin believable.

Some nights just aint meant to be your night.
 
Truly enjoy reading this thread, it is nice to know I am not the only one out here losing to 3's haha. I truly enjoy playing league and reading all of the results and stories from everyone else. I am a 5 in Tap in 8 and 9 ball and thoroughly enjoy the sport...good luck to all.

Thats crazy man. I know the feeling. I had Thurs 8 ball playoffs. I beat another SL4 3-0, our SL5 goes up, beats another SL5 3-0 we put our SL7 up, he goes beats a SL2 2-1 (he knocked an early 8 ball in). 7-1 thru 3 matches. have a good night boys!

3 table runs in three weeks, woo hoo!

We took 4/4 tonight in our bca league. Going into tonight we were tied for 5th.

Hopefully that makes up for our disastrous week last.
 
In 3rd Place and Called a "Cheater"

I jumped up into 3rd place in our 8-Ball league this week, with an 11.3 average and 6 table runs.

However, my good play was met with a drunk opponent that for the first time ever, called a non-existent foul on my second to last ball. He claimed that I hit his ball first with the cue ball.

I'm wondering if because I put extreme inside english on the cue ball to get shape for my last ball, if that caused him to think that I hit his ball first, based on the action of the cue ball. I made my ball exactly as planned, the cue ball then kissed off of his ball and spun forward off the rail into position, exactly as I played it.

Here's the kicker. He would accept no logic. I just looked at him dumbfounded, since his ball wasn't even close to my ball (it was around 4 inches away). He then stuck his cue in the pocket where my next ball would need to be pocketed so I couldn't shoot, and he started calling me a "cheater"! He was drunk and ranting and raving. I had to go to the restroom to cool down, because being called a "cheater" over and over is something that caused my blood to boil, even though I'm normally a very calm person.

Even though one other player on my team saw the shot and was explaining to him that I hit my ball first, the drunk was not accepting any logic.

So get this. I ended up agreeing to flipping a coin to see who would shoot next -- just to stop his drama! I won the flip, missed my last ball before the 8-ball. He then missed. And I got out for 8 points (I knocked one of his balls in with the cue ball when making the 8-ball to prevent me from getting a perfect 9 points).

The guy actually shook my hand after the game and after the match was over, without saying a word. The guy should probably have been kicked out of the league, but I really don't care. Another first for league 8-ball! :thumbup:

EDIT: I should add that after the match was over, a player on the other guy's team came up to me and told me that he thought that his teammate called a foul only because he didn't want me to run out and for him to loose all of those points!

Have you ever had one of those days when you took your body to the pool hall but you left your head at home ?

Yesterday was one of those days for me.

Had masters at 2:00. I lost the first match 7-1. Now I admit my opponent shot pretty dang good but I made it was on him by having no semblance of cue ball control.....continuously getting on the wrong side of the ball....when I was not hooking myself. I also missed a few shots I should never miss.

They threw the same guy first in the second round. I threw myself again him again. When I did my team mates looked at me kinda funny and I said....i aint saying I am gonna win but the score is gonna be a whole lot different than the first match. When I went to the table to lag my opponent was smiling. He was not smiling at the end of the match.

I win the first 8 ball rack. He wins the next 3 and I won the 5th rack.

Changed to 9 ball I win the first 2 racks and he wins the third. I win the next 3 in a row to win the match 7-4. After the match was over my lo said...he must have pissed you off the first match...i replied....something like that and he laughed.

We wrap up masters at 6:00 and I head to another poll hall 15 minutes away for my double jeopardy league that starts at 7:00. Repeat of my first masters match ....except a lil worse playing by me .

I played the same 5 in both 8 and 9 and lost 8 ball 4--2 and 9 ball 38-30 . I just did not have my head in playing pool for some reason yesterday

It's about the same with me.

1-3 in 8 ball and 6-2 in 9 ball. I always thought I was better in 8 ball but stats say otherwise lol
 
If you guys have been keeping up with my ramblings I am sure you are aware that every 3rd or 4th post is about my inconsistency.

9 ball tri cups this weekend is a perfect example..

Last night I faced a 4 and Los 31-23 for a score of 16-4 loss.not sure about the innings but I would venture to say approaching 30 would be a good guess.

Today was entirely different.

I lost the toss so I threw a 5 first and they countered with a 4.....my 5 lost 16-4

2nd match they threw a 2 and I countered with a 3. My 3 lost 12-8.

So here we are ...down 28-12 after 2 matches.

They have a 7, 3 and a 5 left. I have 2-5s...me.being one of them and a 4 left.

Now my other5 is pretty good but he dont have a high gear like I am capable of hitting sometimes....notice I said sometimes lol

I really dont have no choice but to throw myself hoping they dont dump their 3 on me and save their 7 and 5 for my remaining 5 and 4.

So what do I do ? I walk over to the captain who is the 7 and I say ...i am throwing myself and I want you. :D he replies....you got it. :smile:

Now I gotta throw this in here . One of my team mates has been with me a long time....the entire 6 years I have been playing apa. She goes and gets me a beer and says ...you gotta win. Now I don't know if its psychological or what but she knows I " usually " pls a whole lot better with a few beers in me.

Well it worked. I won 38-23 in 14 innings with mw playing 2 safes and my opponent playing 3 for a 17-3 win. Helluva difference from my 15-5 loss to a 4 last night.

My 4 wins 12-8 vs their 3 and my other 5 wins 12-8 vs their 5 so we get to go another round tomorrow.

My team gathered around. And said we won thanks to my beat down of their 7. I replied ...ya'll gotta pick it up a lil...i am only good for a match like that once or twice a year . Every one started laughing.

Wonder if I am gonna be raised t a 6 tomorrow......for the 5 th time in a year lol
 
First time to post my results on here...last 4 weeks I have been Killing it in our new session.

8 ball I laid the hammer on a 5, 4 and another 5, first week 31 completions to 6 misses, second week 32 completions and 6 misses, this week 31 completions to 4 misses...not a single lost game.
Had 2 break and runs 1 8 ball break and a rackless.

9 ball, won 4 straight against a 4 two fives and a three...nothing special but they were all wins.

I found it humorous this week when the five I was playing started hinting at me being a sandbagger at a 5 (annoyed me a little because I would really love to go up in handicap) So I asked him in the middle of our fourth and final game "do you really wanna take this kind of beating for two more games...because if I was a 6 or 7...you would have to" he laughed, I laughed...then sunk the 8

Epic bunch of weeks though...hitting my stride for titleholders next month, hope it translates
 
I had qualifier cup this weekend for my Thurs. 8 ball team.

We lose the toss, they throw a four, we play three. He wins 2-0.
Put up our 5, they throw a 5 he loses 0-2.
We put up the weaker four out of the two of us.....he loses on the hill. 1-2
So now we get in a shitty perdiciment, we need to win this match to get to sudden death. We put up our seven. He wins on the hill, gets me to the table.

I'm a four, the guy i'm playing is a five and were in sudden death. first rack wins it.

I lose the lag, he breaks dry. I run three balls and just missed my next shot in the side pocket. He shoots, and scratches. I get ball in hand with a really crumby layout. I look it over, I start my run. I have the fourteen and and eight left on the table. I hit the last shot bad, tied up the fourteen and eight. I can play a one rail kick to hit the fourteen and if i miss no big deal. Only a sliver of the eight is showing. I hit the shot with max left hand english so if i dont hit the eight.......the rail is so dead it came straight back at the eight ball hit it two rails into the side pocket for the loss.

very frustrating to say the least. i have sunday 8 ball and 9 ball coming up in a couple weeks. will check in with you guys then
 
I haven't gotten back to my previous level of play, beyond brief flashes. I have only myself to blame, I'm not playing nearly as much as I used to, and that is reflected in my (even poorer) consistency lately.

At least my 8-ball team started off this session in good shape, 9-3 and 12-2. Hoping we can keep that up thru the session....

Lost 9 ball vs a 4 by 31-32 in a 31-38 race.

Lost 8 ball vs a 7 by 5-2 in a 5-3 race

Thursday

Lost 9 ball vs a 2 by 19-36 in a 19-38 race

Friday.

Won 8 ball vs a 6 by 4-2 in a 4-5 race

Sunday we played 2 matches vs the same team. One was a makeup

Lost 8 ball vs a 3 by 2-2 in a 2-4 race. I scratched on the 8 giving him both his wins.

Lost 9 ball vs a 6 by 46-36 in a 36-38 race.

Lost 8 ball vs a 7 by 5-2 in a 5-3 race.

Won 9 ball bs the same 6 I played earlier. I won 38-13 in a 38-46 race for an 18-2 win. The match only went 9 innings....unfriggin believable how well I played in this match.it went 29 innings in the previous match I lost to this same 6 .
 
Welp, I wish I could say my thursday DJ team was doing better. We have a couple on our team who is currently fighting and seperated. They cant seem to stand each other currently so they both dont come to league. This hurts us because without them both we are unable to fit within the 23 rule. This really sucks and is hurting our team. She's also the captain on top of it. So were lost on what to do.

Any suggestions?

I feel for you...had it happen to teams I was on twice.


My suggestion....take a team vote about kicking them both off the team and replacing them with a couple.of players drama free.

If you are past the cut of date to add some players you van ask the lo to allow you to add players under the hardship clause.
