The kid was looking to buy a car for his children
not long ago when he ran into a car dealer working the
bait and switch routine.
In other words he got the Kid into the dealership on
the pretenses of having a certain model at an unbelievable low price
But of course this particular car sold.
When the Kid discovered this he decided to have some fun
by pulling an Eddie Murphy stunt, complain out loud
embarrass everyone and use the ensuing may lay to
confuse the issue and make out like a bandit
The Kid points out the dishonest practice loudly in front of the customers
and the salesmen, then demands to see the management
Once this starts, management decides to try and quiet down the kid
Finally the bargaining gets down to offers and counter offers, you know the drill
A certain Mustang Shelby becomes the occasion of the battle, several thousand are involve
and then the 2 parties are $10,000 apart.Management offers to flip a coin for the $10,000 difference
The Kid offers to play golf for the $10,000 difference, management agrees
and calls the lower level manager to play the golf.
Here comes a guy wearing golf shoes and shorts ,sporting a deep tan
He also tells the Kid,(who has a way of getting information out of people),that he is
the senior champ of the city
well the Kid is no slouch, and feels like the Senior is the better player, but knows that
he,The Kid,is a better gambler and the bet is good because the car is still under priced
so the kid picks his own course, where he grew up ,his own tees
(the white) which he knows allow him to reach all the par 5s in two with iron shots
and makes the match only 9 holes to put as much pressure as possible on the tournament player
The Kid then makes $100 bet with every salesman on the floor, some only $10 but the object was to draw a crowd
to increase the gallery thus putting more pressure on the home team paladin.
You get the idea..
A long set would be bad for the Kid ,It would allow the tournament" funsy player " to
settle down.9 holes would be so short a game that it would not give his opponent
time to get his nerves under control
Well the principal is the same for matching a pool game
there is a time and place for quick races, and a time for 10 ahead.
Since this is a true story,I will tell you the Kid won
everything worked out the way he hoped
the last hole was a long par 5
the kid got home in 2 and birdied the hole
the tournament player actually topped his 2nd shot and bogied the hole
to lose by 2 shots
The game was played again and again every time the kid need ed
another car, until it just petered out as all things do
