Nice Place for Pool in St.Paul, MN?

All right, first of all, I want to thank you guys for your support.

Those are now my last few days in this place, likely for quite a while, so I think I'll let you hear my thoughts about my time here.

I have seen 2 Stooges, which is not a bad place. The Saturday Tourney is pretty fun with mostly decent folks around.
Apart from that altogether the place felt rather like taking out friends to have a few pints and additionally bang some balls (not saying that there are no pool players) it just does not give me the feeling of going there to do training or playing "seriously" (which might sound funny from my mouth ;) )

My favorite place became to be honest Jimmy's Pro Billiards.
Thanks for introducing me there Nate. It is nice to always find someone to play and the tables are great (I envy you guys for those Diamonds though).
The owner, as much as those regulars that I met, are all nice, the place has some down to earth feeling and it felt to me like a pool place rather than a disco or bar.
The burgers are great!

Shooters leaves me kind of splitted up. The tables and the food are good stuff, specially the tables in the ring.
Thanks Matt for meeting me there and suffering my second 1 pocket try ...
I think the whole place is just a little bit to large for me, but I enjoyed the Monday tournaments a lot, though I kinda messed up...

JRs is a place I only went to the Friday tournaments. I like the atmosphere, though it is pretty interesting to play while a life band is playing (good) music on the other side :)
The only handicap to me is the lack of 9 foot tables.

As a final word, I just wanna say thanks for the great time and helping me to get back into the game a bit after quite a while of not playing.

Nate, Matt, Hollywood, Fish and many others thanks for your patience and friendly company!

Hope to meet you all again someplace!

Yours Björn

Randy G said it 1 word- Jimmy's Pro billiards

It is absolutely (the best atmosphere ,best Pool Table's , the only Pro who will give lessons!! (Its where Jesse Engels got his start!!! Thanks to Jimmy. I'm glad to have spent half the day playing 8 ball and straight Pool with (Avatar ,. He's interesting and well traveled around the world- like most of the posters are not!! so what he doesn't play -one hole, or for money. He could play here as an A player- thanks for coming to the US - Ask bjorn to see his custom cue at home - too much ivory to travel with- scrimshawed - Thor's Hammer,an ivory snake, etc etc. He supports his mosconi cup friends too!! mark

Thanks for the nice words Hollywood.
I fear however that you misunderstood me on my beloved Thor Hammer cue, since I actually did sell it some time ago, because it could not travel and so at home I just play my McDermott Dubliner with 314/2 (maybe actually now the Lucasi Hybrid I got here, since it plays awesome).

I am doubting the A level however ... Way to much brain farts for such a statement (knowing the right thing to do is kind of different than being able to execute it, but I'm getting there in snail steps)
Anyhow it was great shooting and talking to you. Depending on how my work schedule will look like I might be around at Jimmy's till Thursday night and show in on Friday after the tournament at JCs.

Bjorn,

It was definitely a pleasure meeting you and hanging out at Shooters. Whenever you are in the area again, let us all know. Safe travels buddy.

I'm glad you enjoyed yourself in your time here it was a pleasure meeting you. Next time your in town you should look me up. I will let you know if I can swing out to jimmys tomorrow before you head home.

I'll be at Jimmy's tomorrow evening after work, however this might be 5 or 8pm, depending on the work schedule.

On Friday I as well might show up for the tourney at JCs one last time, just for the fun of it.

So if you got time, just show up :)

Hi Everyone!

It has been quite a while since I came over to the Twin Cities, but next week it's time to finally return (only Monday till Friday though)

I'll likely hang out at Jimmie's in the evenings (taking my new Custom Treasure for a walk), as there will be likely long workdays ahead of me.

If you drop by, it'll be a pleasure meeting again!

CU there!

Don't remember, we're there any tournaments from Tuesday-Thursday?

Bjorn,

Shooters has a Wednesday night tournament. I may be able to make it up to Jimmy's tomorrow night but could certainly be at Shooters on Wednesday night if you decide to head that direction.

Hi Matt,

You misunderstood me ... I will be travelling to St Paul next monday (13th Mar) ;)

I will see, what my bosses have planned for evening entertainment with the customer (hopefully not TOO much) ...
Cu next week!

BR,

Björn

Bjorn,

I have no idea what speed you are or what you're looking for. I'm one of the stronger local players. I don't like playing strictly for fun, but don't mind playing pretty cheap to keep score. I like Jimmy's 9 foot tables. I'd be open to meet up next week Wednesday or Thursday after work, I could start anytime between 4:30 and 7. Cheap to me is $20 a set 9 ball.

I'm not looking for a totally one sided match so this is assuming you play the game well enough to enjoy a good challenge. If you play real good we could bet more. If you are more social it might not make sense. No matter what the pool and camaraderie comes first so wanted to welcome you and say hello.

Thanks for the welcome, but as stated last time, I really do not bet on my game (boring Euros, I know ...), specially if I have no clue whom I am donating my money to ;)

Anyhow my speed can be judged reasonably well by Hollywood, mhilton777 and couldnthinkof01 (though quite some time has passed ... old dogs don't learn new tricks (easily) they say, so not too much of a change to then I suppose) ... Considering you being one of the stronger local players, you likely will find not too much of a challenge in me I fear, but thanks for the offer!

Sorry I missed the earlier post about this. Didn't mean to beat a dead horse. There are many ways to enjoy this game and they're all just as valid. I hope you have a blast while you're in town!
