Well my hips not 100pct but losing some weight taking glucosamine and some stretching has made that much better still walk with a slight limp more noticeable to others than me

I turn now to my neck this has been a problem far longer than my hip . No question I'm a neck surgery canidit for yrs I get the tingling fingers and headaches,, it's pretty amazing that when I get it trying to sleep I can position my head on the pillow where the tingling will stop in almost seconds ,, learned some stretches and excersises to keep the muscles strong

However I am a chin on stick shooter I find from time to time when I get down on the cue my eyes blurr on long shots anyone close shots no problem

Anyone else have this problem , do you bring your head higher on long shots or do you keep your head higher all the time

I can relate. Over the last 10 years I've had to change my stance a fair amount, especially this latest return to the tables about a month ago. My right hip is very painful, as is the neck. My right shoulder is also racked with arthritis and calcified tendonitis, which forced me to stop throwing darts. Fortunately, the positioning in pool doesn't bother it - except when I spend more than 4 or 5 hours in one day on drills and practice.

I can't get down on the ball like I used to - but in some ways that has helped as I learn to adapt. A more "top down" view as I'm shooting lets me focus on learning or improving my positioning. I've adopted a higher head position except for some extreme cut shots. It's the learning to adapt that's the key IMHO.

No idea how much longer I'll be able to play - but I'll fight as long as I can ... even if I end up shooting like Minnesota Fats in a few years.

Ya I here I have done some tests standing up right and Iv found pocketing balls to be better but my comfort level and speed control is a little out of wack , I too am just trying to extend Father Time I'm 56 feel I got some good yrs left so I need to make changes that give me comfort with same abilities it's hard to change after yrs of playing down low

Hey One Stroke,
Yep - adapting to age is tough. I'll be 60 in a few weeks, and the arthritis set in for me about early 50s. I've always been an on-again off-again player, and have been fairly dormant since about 2010 when I did one season of league. I really hate that we don't have much in the line of pool halls here, and I don't like being relegated to the bar tables.

I'm getting used to asking for water (or at worst Sprite or Mountain Dew) in a bar - but still fell a bit odd doing so. Unfortunately my living circumstances don't allow me to have a table at home anymore.

Still - I love the game, and accepting and adapting to the aches and pains is a part of it I suppose. Anyway - I do wish you the very best in your endeavors.

Ha to tell you the truth stopping drinking while playing was as hard as to do as anything
I had one night at the expo when it was my birthday went back to the hotel called my daughter to say goodnight ,
I was in the middle of a breakup with her mother I decided to go back , grabed a double shot of Jamison's being Irish and 2 beers hit a 10 dollars table 2-1/2 hours later and couple shots more I finally got knocked off the table , ,, hung around watching some matches making sure I was sober ,, bought a couple shirts the next day and headed home ,,
That was a good flash back had a many of night like that in bars playing ,, now it's more for fun some gambling light and playing some turneys just trying to hang on learn to play with these physical problems and stay competitive for a few more yrs before it becomes all about fishing lol
