Superman Roberto Gomez wins the Dixieland Classic!

Congratulations to Roberto Gomez for winning the Dixieland Classic 10-Ball, he won 10-4 and 8-4, had to double dip Sky who was on fire.

Excellent shooting by Sky Woodward all week to claim 2nd. Johann Chua gets third with some incredible playing and The South Dakota Kid Shane Van Boening scores 4th after a few hill hill close matches.

Full writeup will be posted very soon. Thanks for joining us here at www.PoolActionTV.com

Anyone else notice the new Filipino invasion squad? Dennis and Warren continue to do their thing, but now Gomez has gotten comfortable playing over here, Chua and Deluna are getting their feet wet and the old vet Gallego has returned. These guys will play havoc wherever they go. They love a good pool fight and aren't afraid to mix it up with anyone!

What I like about all of them is they are good competitors who relish a tough battle, play hard in victory or defeat, and don't make excuses if they get beat. They are quick to congratulate anyone who can take them down. True sportsmen of the cloth imo! :thumbup2:

Totally Agree. They are a killer force. I watched one bring his cue up so high during his break. I thought he was going to bust a hole in the ceiling every time he broke. They all played phenomenal and Gomez was very entertaining. He was even heckling Sky during one of his matches. All in all a great tournament. Enjoyed watching the whole thing.

Jay i was lucky this weekend(had gomez in both calcuttas and chua in the main one as well as j hall(all 3 cashed,i have never had all my players cash before) but roberto gomez was cutting up and having fun all week, kinda like alex has been doing for years. The phillipinos are just happy go lucky and ,like you said, they are afraid of no one(shane ,sky,etc...) they always have fun with the kids around tourneys and i love their attitudes(all business at the table) but having fun with the spectators away from the table.

And also would like to mention how good chua played all week.he looked to be the man to beat, had skler down 8-4 in hot seat match, but hung a ball hill-hill and it seemed to take something out of him,but until that match he looked unbeatable. I predict he will be the next great phillipino rotation player.
