Linen over exotic handles

I switched cues 2 mos ago to a one piece bubinga cue. This cue was in near mint condition. Lately the linen wrap has become rough. I have always used linen wraps and can't recall having this problem; my hands don't sweat much and I rarely eat or drink while playing. Is it possible these exotic woods absorb moisture more than maple? I am in Florida and of course humidity is no stranger here.

Sounds more like the wrap isn't prepped and pressed properly to me.

Thanks for the input. I'll keep playing with it and see how it goes. I am still a bit skeptical it's only the wrap as this has happened with other cues of mine with non-maple handles. This wrap was super smooth two months ago. Anyway, if it deteriorates further I'll have it replaced and hope that fixes the problem.

You now say that this has happened on other cues, So now a question, is the linen actually linen? Or more of a nylon type? I have done multiplue linen wraps on Bubinga cues and have had no problem, but it was a quality linen that I used. Some 'linen' wraps are not the same.

I'm curious now what you do to your cues as far as maintenance,,,,, are you wiping them down with water, chemicals, etc,,,,,,,,

Replacing my be overkill. Just have a good repairman press and polish it properly.

It's almost certainly linen. Feels the same as all my other cues. I owe probably 15 linen wrapped cues and don't see or feel any difference in the material. They're all custom cues and no cheap production stuff.

The only maintenance I do is quickly wipe the wrap with a dry cloth towel. No chemicals or water. It could be the towel, but I do the same on my break cue wrap and it's still smooth without the rough stuff. Maple handle on the breaker.
