That is an important thing that lots of pool players don't do but it's not the most important thing to be learned from snooker.

Ah, well you just tell me if I'm close :)

- Pause at the cue ball
- Pause at the backswing
- Slow backswing
- Slow acceleration on forwardswing
- Keep the cue level
- Keeping the head on the line of aim
- Staying down on the shot
- Showing respect towards opponent after a loss, and not giving a limp handshake.

Okay, that last one isn't really part of the fundamentals, but it is something most pool players could learn to do.

9-6 Higgins with a very ragged frame in progress. Missed chances by both players.
Higgins wins the frame after some very interesting safety play. He leads at the end of the session 10-6 over Hawkins.

Anyone who thinks kicking is not a major part of snooker needs to watch this frame.

I think the 2017 champion is on the other side of the draw....
...rooting for Ding....won't be upset if Selby takes it down.

..what snooker players do more than pool players?
They hit from the elbow much more than from the armpit....
...the stroking arm rarely goes past vertical till after they hit the ball.
...many don't drop their elbow.

Am I getting warm....huh?...at least in the neighborhood?
...not even close?
:scratchhead::banghead::shrug:....gimme a break, Bob...
..I'm a highschool drop-out

I like that answer.
The open bridge is my guess.

Selby-Ding was scheduled to start at 1900 local time (23 minutes ago) but maybe they are running late because of the previous session. At any rate it should be on soon.

The open bridge has been in the pool world for a long time, Greg.
...most notably, Jim Rempe favored it long before he took up snooker.

Well, YOU took my answer!:wink:So I went with my back up. :sorry:

While pool players use the open bridge, most do not use it to the extent of the snooker players.

Ok my third choice would be the stance.

According to the BBC website it starts at 19:30 local time (its 19:09 over here at the mo FYI)!
The broadcast has started. Introductions now. I had to quit facebook as the stream was terrible. Navigated the traps on cricfree to watch now.

wow -- safety battle of 18+ minutes at the start of the 17th frame

Edit -- and Selby takes it for 10-7. So that's 7-2 Selby today so far. Ding's gotta get going!

Holy cow
That blue to break up the 2 reds was unreal

Selby has been awesome this WC, has to be the favourite, always seems to know the right shot to play, but can turn on the style when he needs to.

He gets a lot of criticism for being 'boring', but frankly I think there are a lot of haters that don't watch him and just hate the fact he's a winner!
