The simplest is a camera on a tripod if you can get it high enough.
Better would be mounted on the wall/ceiling intersection with a $15 mount from Amazon. But then you'd still need to supply power, climb up and down a ladder to access the memory cards, etc.
I have my camera mounted up there, but it is wired to my Mac tgat lives on a shelf under the camera that I can reach. It records directly to my computers hard drive, and I start and stop the recordings from the keyboard. Not simple to set up, but very easy to use.

I use a GoPro Hero 4. Works great.
I use it above to view game by using baseball hat clip.
I use it for straight in by putting it on pocket I am shooting at.... Then I check my stroke with various english / high - low aims. This will tell you how straight your stroke is.
I use forehead mount and shoot a round like Max Eberle does on Youtube to see how I play. You can really see your stroke from your eyeball point of view. This has helped me the most.

I have a video on my facebook page shooting 2 1/4" pool balls on a 10 ft snooker table with 3 3/16" pockets that I shot with my S3 smart phone. It's the first and only time I ever recorded myself practicing but the quality was really not bad. The phone was taped to a broom handle, lol.
Any digital camera with a small tripod will work. You can move it around if you want to focus on anything specific
I agree with this. My lg g4 paired with a $20 section cup car mount lets you put the phone/camera up on pretty much any smooth surface.
