Just curious who would even give Jayson a close match in a long race of 10 ball right now. I would say the only players that could even compete would be: SVB, Jung Lin Chang, Dennis Orcollo, Johann Chua and Ko Pin Yi.

Am I missing anybody?

For two guys that love to gamble so much, why have Shaw and Orcollo never played for the big cheese? That match would draw huge crowds.

Somebody tell Justin Bergman to give Jayson his money back.....

..Justin can't beat him if Jayson's the best.

Let's get real for a second here. Justin beat him a few years ago and Justin has admitted that Jayson has taken his game to another level since then. No way in hell Bergman would play Shaw even now. And that is a fact!

You just missed the guy No.1 in FargoRate

best player in the world? maybe when hes on, when not hes a beatabale pro without a plan b! so, my answer is no, he isnt!
when he dont matures his game im afraid he peaked in kuwait last year! just look at his results lately at worldstage, at mosconi one good match when it was decided, in london a lucky final where he really didnt look like the best, a 33rd at a eurotour and now in china a terrible loss after NVB let him off the hook already before! those are not results from the best in the world! maybe the 2nd best in the US since i dont see him ahead of SVB!
and please dont tell me he won a bunch of US tourneys lately! thats very nice but doesnt make one the best in the world!
and in gambling, who the hell is playing races to 100? 5 people? maybe he should ask orcullo nicely, im sure he gets his match!

He is a great player..., I will give you that. But he's certainly not the best. plus with his little finger tap thing he does with his bridge hand. I'm shocked he ever makes balls. He is talented and fun to watch.

Clap, clap, clap!!!!!
Although I appreciate his style of play, he isn't close to being the best, quite frankly, he never was and probably will never be. AZer's , you have to stop throwing distinction out there like this, "the best"', who really knows who the best is, nobody that's who. It is ok to have an opinion and a favorite I must say however, but please stop watering down such a high distinction.

Jason is fantastic, and he could most likely play with anyone today and especially the last year. Not sure if we're going to see a race to 100 in any rotation game any time soon. That doesn't mean that anyone is scared , it just seems that interest in rotation games is declining and the reasons why is for another thread...

There is nothing wrong with somebody's opinion of who the best really is. Take basketball for example. If you based the best of all time solely on points scored, Kareem Abdul Jabbar would be the best. But is he really the best ever? No! 90% of people would say Jordan is the best. There is no exact formula to say who the best is in any sport because there are too many factors. My point being, there is nothing wrong with stating a personal opinion. Pool players today are such pu___'s. All the top Pinoy's play each other every day. None of the top Americans do that. There is no pride anymore. It's a different game.

I think it isimportant to acknowledge that usain bolt is not a world class distance runner.

This is why I favored Justin in the race to 80.....
...Jayson got to 59.....he's a dasher, not a miler.

perhaps he's a miler now, but I'll bet on Justin again....not the house, but I will bet.

excactly, remember last year before US open everybody was talking about wu being the best, then shane won US open, immediatly he was the best again followed by jayson who had a awesome run........and wu is still no1 everywhere lol
there is no best atm, theres a bunch of awesome shooters who can beat each other on any given day!

If it is only about potting balls, shaw might be even be the best at that. But to be the best player over all, he lacks tactical skills compared to a whole bunch of top names. On top of that there is room for improvement with regard to attitude, approach, shot selection, controlling emotions...

Shaw is super spectacular to watch and surely a crowd pleaser. A valuable addition to the western pool circus. But best of the word? No man. can't agree with that.

Dont know about the best, but Id have a hard time betting against him. Last year the only person i didnt want to bet against with Shaw was Chang JL, too close to even either way, havent watched much pool this year.
Jason

No

No, he ain't the best player. But, he is possibly the best current rotation player in 9 and 10 ball, maybe. We will have to wait a few years to see where he fits in with the great ones.

It takes a tremendous amount of discipline, determination, self control and mental toughness to be a the top of the heap in the pool world. Does he have all of those qualities? Time will tell.

Some of you guys are funny.. Last week you think Dennis is the best, 4 days later you think Josh Filler can beat Shaw since he won a pool tournament lol
